I am thinking of just switching over completely to MUS for the fall. I had a list of all the programs I was considering previously, but I think I have settled on MUS. But I am thinking I will use MUS for all the grades, that includes high school. I want something college prep, for math and science type majors.

Please tell me your opinions, good and bad. Also, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

I have been thinking about this all week too. My kids both use abeka, but ds has done mus in elementary and loved it. I only switched because we were doing the abeka dvds and I wasn't going to pay extra for another math. Abeka had a glitch in their system and long story short it has been 3 weeks since I should have received my next set. So this week has been a fun week. We don't have any math so I did placement tests from mus, teaching textbooks and saxon. My kids both placed very well. I did notice that they had a harder time with a couple of things in saxon but I was giving algebra tests when they are only half way through the year. I still love the way mus teaches. It is so different from abeka. I didn't really care for teaching textbooks. My kids took those placements with ease. I'm just nervous about switching something that isn't broken. I would only switch my ds not dd. He would be in Algebra 1 next year. How hard would it be on the teacher. How well does the dvd explain things?

So as you can tell I'm looking for answers with this too.

I've not used the upper grades of MUS, but I watched the DVD with my boys for the younger grades and it works well, then we play the games and such in the tm and they do the worksheets. I think probably the older grades could just watch the DVD on their own and then ask if they have any questions, it could most likely be an independent study kind of think unless they had question. There are also honors books included now for the upper levels so that'll give the children who have an easier time a little bit of a challenge.

I know we plan to continue MUS for high school. My kids love the approach and the limited amount of problems on a page. We also like the way review is given in each lesson as well. My oldest watches the DVD's by himself (or he doesn't watch it and just does the lesson  ) and he has done a fine job on his own. I haven't even looked at other programs becaue it was difficult enough finding a math curriculum that ds tolerated. As long as he's happy, I'm happy.

my dd did mus for geo and Alg2 which sheis also doing SOS, she just does the SOS doeds not understand it as much, the MUS she gets it !
so ds will do from next year alg1, Geo and Alg2 with MUS, then we will do a business math for half ayear or economics type thing. for senior social,
That will bring him up to the college levels and he can test and see where he will be
