Today I began to homeschool our 11 year old son. This time it was no big wut-to-do or even major planning for that matter (not like before). I still need to notify the state in writing that I am homeschooling to get their letter of consent, etc. So i'm pretty laid back about it this time. I've been on the web printing off math worsheets, creating LA and Social Studies activities for him as well as sending him to the Ben Franklin, and Bible site for his religious studies. He just had lunch and I'm going to let him go out to play for a little while and maybe ride his bike for PE/recess. Next I'll have him summerize his studies in his Writing Journal. I may find some spanish for him to go over, I don't know. I plan to order my curriculums today (been doing it for a about 2 weeks or so now) but I will get to it. I don't know, mayb it's my lil mid-life thing I'm going through or my wondering why we spent $$$ of money even sending him to private school to pay someone else to do what I can do. For him this was the best solution, but I admit I do want to hs my 9 year old daughter too but I'm going to let her try out her 5th grade year at the charter school she is returning to since she is thriving there and wants to return (plus hubby likes the school) I've told him that I am watching the school closer now and I will pull her if I feel she would be better off at home or if she wants to come home to be taught. Yep, my hair is turning grey as I type. But I'm sure my A-type personality will kick in eventually and I will get in full gear. I do plan on letting him quit around 2:00 or so. As far as my son goes, he's probably getting more from me and being at home in a few hours of school here, then he gets all day in school, and if not... its a real close tie. But that's just me.
