I have been absent for the last weekish. My daughter was jumping on my bed and managed to dive off of it and smack my night stand. Worst day of my life. Poor thing bled so much. In the end Dentist said she needed her two front teeth out. Luckily she is only two so her adult teeth should be fine. Scared the pants right off me though. And guess what. Half an hour after we got back from urgent care...guess who was jumping on the bed again?

But they are so rugged at that age. I still remember with horror the evening years ago when our older daughter tripped over a mat while running at full speed and fell headlong against the corner of a call. The point of the wall cut deep into her forehead, and blood was gushing everywhere. When we took her to emergency, they not only stitched the cut but also acted right away so she wouldn't be left with a nasty scar. If you look carefully, you can still see a small scar (almost 20 years later), but very few notice. And yes, they seem to have no fear at that age - which on the whole is good. You can't help but laugh when they go right back to running around or bouncing on the bed. Glad it all worked out OK.
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed One fell off and bumped his head! Momma called the doctor, and the doctor said, "NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!!!"
At least she is okay. I wish I could say I hope she learned a valuable lesson about jumping on the bed but I know they never learn...lol. Yesterday Sophie was sitting on the back of the recliner (I've told her several times not to) she heard me walking back into the room for the laundry room and freaked. She smacked her face into the window and busted her bottom lip open. Cried and cried and cried. Today I go to the bathroom and walk back into the living room. She is back up on the back of the recliner watching the birds out the window. One day when she has kids of her own you can remind her LOs how their mommy was jumping on the bed and got a boo boo.

Be grateful it was her teeth! When I was four I was doing the same thing at a vacation house, hit the wall, broke my nose in two places, and my poor parents had to drive 45 minutes in the middle of no where with my nose bleeding like a stuck pig to find a hospital so they could figure out a way to stop the bleeding. That is why I dont' let my kids jump on the bed. Lesson learned the HARD way!
Awwww....poor mommy. I am so sorry this happened. Poor little girl too, but I have a feeling it hurt you at least as much.
I know what you mean........ when the twins were little I went to get dressed and my son fell off a wooden rocking chair and hit his head on the up part of the rocking part...... his head was bleading and I cound't do anything..... I was all alone and don't drive.....I never shut my door to get dressed again in fear someone would get hurt and I wouldn't hear right away. I on the other hand was about 3 and running to the toilet and slipped and fell and had my first tooth come out too. I know you feel bad but little things will happen or they will never have any fun. --------- just read the 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed!
Your story reminds me of my friend who told her child & cousin...no jumping on the bed. Well, of course it continued...ended with a broken elbow!!! Glad you lil one is "ok"!!! Man, lips bleed so bad any way. That was probably way scary to see you lil one bleeding like that!!!
Blood just has a way of looking like more than its actual volume. Fortunately even very serious bleeding can usually be temporarily stopped by pressure with a clean cloth, so it is important not to panic when there is blood. One lady called our veterinary clinic because her dog was bleeding "from its back end". My efforts to calm her down were unsuccesful, and she just put the dog in her car and drove to us as fast as she could. By the time she arrived her dog was covered with a very impressive amount of blood, but it did not look the least bit distressed. We had to wash the animal down until finally we discovered the source of the bleeding - a broken toenail!
