Where has the time gone? That sweet, fat little bundle is now a gangly teenage boy! We don't have parties, just us as a family. I baked him an orange dreamsicle cake yesterday and it's in the fridge along with stuff for punch. His dad is stopping to pick up pizza for supper on the way home tonight. We bought him a Lego set and a Peanuts CD so he is a happy camper. I just can't believe he's 13.
Happy Birthday and prayers for all of you (we're smack dab into the teen years with one of them and I often wonder how we'll ever make it through). Brenda
Eyeore: Tell the little one HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM US IN TEXAS I go through that with my first in Dec. Oh the cake sounds wonderful want to post the recipe. I think I will come over and join in. Have a wonderful eveing and enjoy it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Eeyore, Happy Birthday to you and your baby, afterall, it is your birthday too! I remember when my boys turned 13, I thought.... any minute they are going to need to shave. Went to town today found a pair of jammie pants, pink with Eeyore all over them marked down to $5.00. My second pair! What a deal, last pair.
Oh wow! The cake sounds divine. Can you share the recipe with us please? I would love to make one of those!
He says he had a wonderful birthday. He got to play with his Legos all day, eat his favorite food, and we played his favorite family board game to cap it off. :-D Here's the secret cake recipe. It's a box mix! It's a Duncan Hines signature dessert mix. It's an orange cake then while it's still warm you poke holes in it and pour an orange syrup over it. The frosting is a white mousse, very fluffy and light. You keep it in the fridge. Remember the old Jello poke cake recipe? It's kind of like that only better. It's very, very yummy!
Oh, great!!! I love box mixes for cakes! I just made angel food cake cupcakes last week for the kids. I would have never made angel food cake but with a mix I'm a gourmet chef, lol!
The day our dd turned 13 she cried. Said that she could no longer act like a child, and do child like things. I was very quick to correct her. She can play with her dolls and toys as long as she likes. No need in growing up to fast. There will be time for that later, for now just enjoy being a child. Of course she did have a few more chores put on her list.
Just one more good thing about hsing. Kids get to be kids without all the outside pressure to act too old too soon. That's not to say that you don't teach them to be responsible people.
My oldest just turned 13 on the 3rd. It is a change with them getting older and more independent. We did have a party with friends. At what age do you all stop the friend parties? Or do you still have them?
