Yea, I know, all the unlikely things always happen to us! I used Purex Free & Clear, tiny bit of soap. One wash and several rinses. There are many things posted out there about stripping and detergent build up and chemical burns. I am one to tell you that it can and does happen, unfortunately! You have been blessed not to have experienced that having never stripped your dipes!

I used cloth with my baby until maybe 4 months ago. Never stripped them, never washed them in hot water. he never had a problem. I used a homemade detergent on them.

Maybe it was the detergent? I was very careful with what I used and how much. I have googled cloth diaper chemical burn and there are many people who have experienced this! I am not the only one...lol!!!

This is a useful site: www.diaperjungle.com

Also these are sites about stripping them:

I don't wish anyone to experience what we did! It was horrible. The burns were open wounds that we had to treat for staph. We could hardly wipe her and absolutely could not use baby wipes (even unscented still had chemicals that would burn her). I made a homeade wipes solution and used cut up pieces of receiving blanket. She was only 5 months old and we were at Disney World. Everytime I changed her I had to use the blow dryer to keep her bum dry after making sure she was very clean, then on went a perscription cream for the staph they suspected it turned into (open wounds and bacteria from poop) Yuk!

Anyway, I totally got a little off topic. I wish I could have continued to cloth dipe, but my dh was like "no way" and I was very hesitant too. That was a bad experience for us! Atleast my friend scored - over $300 in cloth dipes!

I know it can happen, I just wanted other mama's to know that it's not something that happens to everyone. I hope you didn't feel like I was saying it didn't happen, that was not my intention. I just didn't want mama's to be afraid to try cloth, it was great for us, I only changed because baby wouldn't stay still for changes anymore!

Wow, I must say this makes me a little hesitant about trying cloth. I'll have to do some research.
