My Grandma has been living with my mother for close to ten years. She isn't able to live alone but until recently she's done ok with the arrangement at my mum's. Lately, however, there have been a lot of things happen while mum and her husband aren't home. Last week, to make a long story short, Gram ripped off two of her toenails and pulled quite a lot of skin off the toes themselves. She did this in the course of simply grooming herself. Mum finally realized what had happened a couple of days later, but by then Gram's whole foot was red and swollen. The doctor put her on oral antibiotics. Her foot was no better this morning and actually looked worse by this afternoon. So mum took her to the ER. They admitted her. The foot problem isn't that bad, really. I mean, it's treatable and she'll be fine in a couple of days. The real issue is that now mum has to decide if it's time for Gram to move to an assisted living facility. This is difficult for my mom because she swore that she'd never put Gram in a home. Please pray for wisdom for my mom. And that if Gram needs to be in a home that the finances will work out.
I know how difficult this decision is. We are nearing this point with my MIL. It's tough. I'll be praying.
praying. Gram's are so important. Hoping/praying your Mom will make the decision with peace and confidence.
