Micah (3 1/2) was the ring bearer in a wedding tonight. The bride and groom are former employees (at are first store in AR) and have both grown to be great friends of the family. My boys adore the groom. He taught them to play Pokemon and takes them shooting and other fun stuff. He's like the 'fun, young-ish uncle' they don't have. Anyhow... so Micah never did really get to practice what he was supposed to do (after the walk down the aisle). We talked A LOT on the way there about how he was going to come sit down with me once the bride entered and the congregation sat. Last night, he had been allowed to stand next to the groom. So when the time came for him to sit down with me, I motioned to him and he stared me down, shaking his head 'no.' He stayed glued to the groom's side for the whole ceremony. Initially, I was super stressed, but he stood (mostly) still and wasn't disruptive. He did manage to sort of steal the show, though. I'll post the pro pictures once they're available, but for now, these will have to do.
2 of them (the groom's youngest two sisters) and yes (but her's weren't the same as the bridesmaids'). The flower girls' dresses were essentially just giant tutus! The bride's sister made them and it cost her a few dollars each.
A few dollars each? Oh, yeah!!! When my sil got married, my girls were in it and the dresses cost close to $100 each! And the ones in the picture do look just as nice!!!
The top 'band' is just this sort of elasticy, knitted stuff. It was sold on a roll. It had holes in the natural weave of it, so she just looped tule through like you would a hoop rug. It was time consuming, she said, looping all those layers of long tule, but the result was cute. The girls just wore black slips underneath so there'd be a solid layer for modesty (though, through all those layers, I never saw a thing). She used red and black tule. [Ok, how DO you spell that word?!] The straps were just wide black ribbon that was pinned on (the big flower is a pin) to the front and tied around their neck. Mostly for decoration than to serve a purpose because the elastic material held them up quite nicely. She said she had maybe $25 into the dresses and the bulk of that expense was the flower pins.
