WOW!! I've been SO busy with other things that I haven't had much time to come and visit with you all. I have MISSED you!! After some rough times with my oldest, I think we have finally settled into the new normal. He was tired of following our rules and wanted freedom so he upped and moved out. There was no fight and not even a discussion. He just said he was moving and he was gone. Hubby and I shed a LOT of tears during those first few weeks. BUT He will be 18 in August and Should be graduating in a few weeks. He's doing well, holding a full time job and gotten 2 promotions in the last few months because of his work ethic. So grateful that some of what we have taught him has stuck. We weren't sure he would be graduating after he moved out. Several times I had the school call and tell me that he had left early or that he just didn't show up. After taking his truck away (it's in my name) for not following through on our agreement of going to school, he changed his tune. He has it back and I haven't had a single call from the school :) And today he came by for a visit to show me his cap and gown. I almost cried I was so happy!! He has his final essay to write and he is done!!!! I'm breathing a sigh of relief! I was so afraid he would not finish. This Sunday at church is Senior Sunday and we sent his stuff in not knowing if he would actually be a graduate, SO glad we did! I'm heartbroken that he wants nothing to do with church so he won't be there, but we are still going to honor him. :)

Sometimes it takes a willingness to let go! Am SO glad he's "finding himself" (even if it DID mean taking away the truck for a while!) CONGRATULATIONS to him AND to you!!!Great job. Mom!

He will be done with school as of Next Tuesday! And he will walk the stage on the 30th.. This has been rough. I'm so glad he's persevered and finished. We enrolled him in an alternative public school program back in October that is much like homeschool in the respect that he could go at his own pace. He took that literal and did his work when he felt like it. Just like he did when we homeschooled him. He's a GREAT kid, school just wasn't his thing.
