    Long time no see, girls!
I dont know if you guys remember me at all.
Earlier last year i had difficult decisions to make - to send my advanced kid to K or home school.
We sent him to public K. We had a meeting with principle (like all parents had) and I made a list what my son knows already. That really made it easier for her to see what teacher would fit him the best. He has a wonderful teacher who works with him on his level.
For math he is doing 2nd grade math drills
For reading he reads 2nd grade books
For writing he describes pictures and does a lot of free writing.

At home i do daily reading, about 2-3 times a week math and 2-3 times a week spelling.

I emailed the principle if DS could visit 1st grade for math because i thought it would be a bit interesting for him there. She said that even 1st grade math would not challenge him the way I think it would. AND she suggested to test him for gifted program altogether. NORMALLY they NEVER test kids before 1st grade but she felt that she needed to make an exception with us. And he passed!!
His IQ needed to be at least 125 and his was 128
His overall academic knowledge of 1st grade level needs to be at least 96% and his was 98%.

He will be the 10th kid in that class among other gifted 1st graders from our school area. I am wondering why only 10 among other 500 1st graders our town has... thats a bit odd. But i am happy with my kindergartener who is the first one in the history of gifted program in our school area :)
