We just brought it back from the shop and are trying to make it as comfortable as possible. Apparently part of the motor or fan is already burned out, and both the motor and fan are very, very ill. It is less than 2 years old. The guy at the shop says what I am seeing is typical on the bagless; they really don't last long. We were going to get a dyson, and then I saw the line of them in the shop to be repaired, and someone brought theirs in while I was there. So, I'm going to bite the bullet and get a Miele cannister. Would prefer an upright, but there have been some housing issues in the past with their uprights. My poor, poor, Bissell. I hope it doesn't hear me talking about its replacement.
I feel rather fortunate! I have had a bagless for over ten years, and this with two cats and two long-hair, sheds-lot large dogs, a really thick carpet, real Christmas trees, and ashes in my fireplace. It is not uncommon for me to have to dump it three to four times to do my house during shedding season. Mine has never had a problem beyond the light burning out and a belt needing replaced. I will say that mine is not a Dyson so it has a hepa filter that is supposed to be replaced yearly (I think I average once every two years) that I knock the extra dust off when I dump all that has been collected.
I guess we are all having vacuum problems. I still haven't decided what I should do about getting a new one yet.
