Not sure what the problem is, most likely computer related. It ran fine up until it just died. Thank God it died in the driveway so at least we don't even have to have it towed anywhere. Thank God I wasn't 30 minutes away with a van full of meat and ice cream melting in the GA heat! Or stranded on the side of the road with 2 kids and cell phone reception (cause I do live in the sticks, y'all) So many reasons to be thankful, but at the same time, hubby and I now don't own a working vehicle. He's driving my dad's extra truck back and forth to work and we're sharing it. We'd have to pay to have it towed to have ti looked at then if we can't afford the fix we'd have to pay to have it towed home again! So we're thinking of just sellign it as is...but that's not going to get me enough money to buy another car and we can't afford payments....so I dont' know what we'll do. Could use some prayers. I just need SOMETHING to drive. I dont' care if it's old, ugly, car, truck, suv, whatever, so long as it's dependable. Pray God will provide...
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Keep smiling, sweetie, God is already there.
I'm so sorry! That is one of my huge fears right now. We need our van to last 3 more years. Do you happen to know anyone with the thing you can plug into your car to run a diagnostic (no idea what it's called)? Last time my van was giving us some trouble, DH was able to borrow one and get the codes. That could maybe at least give you a clue as to the costs involved. Praying for you!!
The pocket scanner sixcloar mentioned is called an OBD scanner. Depending on what year your car is you would would either need the OBD 1 or OBD 2 scanner. We bought one years ago and have never regreted buying it. I would see if someone would loan you one. It has saved us thousands of dollars in repairs just knowing what the problem is and being able to fix it ourself. I will pray you will be able to find some transportation soon!
We do know someone with one but hubby doesn't want to ask to borrow it. He decided we should try to buy a used car since we figured it'd help build his credit back up since we had to file bankruptcy because he was out of work for 2 years...well, we found a really good deal on a little SUV but the dealership wouldn't sell us a car, because we have no credit, (and right now no down payment either-they have this big "sign and drive" thing so we were hoping...) so we thought, well, we need a mower, let's go to Lowe's and buy one on credit to build our credit so we can get you a car. Lowe's turned him down too.... So, unless a car drops out of the sky.... I'm just really frustrated right now. So is he, plus he feels like a failure for not being able to provide for his family...he's workign so hard, so many hours....so little pay...no other jobs out there...It's just so frustrating
Can you borrow money from family? How about a personal loan with your bank? I wish I had better advice. If I had an extra car I would give it to you! Prayers being sent your way.
Most of the sign and drive places require a down payment. I'll be praying for you to find a solution. It's so hard to need things you can't figure out how to provide!!
I know that things can change and Pray that they will. I will pray that if there is a lesson in this for you guys, you will learn it real fast so you can move on. I know there were times when my husband and I went through tough times and it seemed that when we looked back, that we were being tought or prepared for other times. I hope that makes since. You two need to pray together, even cry together over this. I read posts like yours on many boards, I feel like we may be in a depression economically. We all need to pray.
