I'd like to know where some of you get bigger girl nice clothes (like ages 10 and up). I pick up play clothes from walmart and Target, but I'm talking some nicer looking things for photos or going out to eat. I once shopped gymboree and Hartstrings, but it seems many of these clothes are just too cutesy for dd's taste now. I still find a few things some from Old Navy and Children's Place, but sometimes this age group looks too "teen" for my taste.

Any ideas on stores for this age group that is decent and nice looking???

Wow, Miss that is a hard question. I have a hard time too. My dd is 13 and 5'9" we have a very hard time find any girl in style clothes for her. When have to go to the young ladies section she always tells me these are gross and look old fashion or makes me look old. I do find some cute things at Burlington Coat Factory or JcPenney's once in awhile.

We like JC Penney. They have a good range of style and sizes. My dd is little, so she always needs slims. But I know they carry kids plus sizes as well as 1/2 sizes. You can usually find decent sales there and we get coupons in the mail pretty often.

We also like Kohls, but you may not have those where you are.

Kohl's has some pretty good things, but I noticed that the sizes 7-14 are all geared toward teens. I don't particularly like most of that stuff. I have found a few things there though. I once bought all the time from JCPenney, but their prices are too overpriced IMO. I loved buying from their online store, but the past year or so they don't have so much to offer. I have looked at Sears but always walk out empty handed, not sure why.

I think I'm scared of buying from Land's End....I'm not sure what size to get (do they run big or small). My dd is petite and has a small tummy (like her mommy, lol). So, some pants are tight in the waist (they think all 9 yo children are slim jims I guess). IF the pants are uncomfortable then she won't wear them.

One place I forgot about is Hanna Andersson. I love their soft comfortable clothes and yet they can be dressy as well. I'll have to check them out. Isn't there a Limited for kids? If there is such a thing I'm thinking they also may gear their clothes toward the teen group. Just thinking out loud.

I've filtered through some local consignment and thrift shops, but I usually find nothing. I guess if I went more often I'd find some things I would be happy with. I am more into shopping online and not dealing with crowds.

Thanks for the info. Keep it coming!

Do you have a Ross store anywhere around you? They often have good stuff for low prices. I've found some nice things for my children there.

I can hardly find dresses for me anywhere anymore. That's where I've found a few. Anyone know of any other place to find ladies dresses?

I have shopped at Ross, Marshall's and TJMaxx around here (all sort of the same). It's hit or miss. Sometimes I find some stuff and sometimes I don't.

For ladies dresses I love shopping with Chadwicks. I have ordered from their catalogs and online. Prices are medium, but they run lots of sales. I have ordered from them for twenty years.

I shop for my children at Kohl's, Kaufman's (Macy's now), JC Penny's, and Sears. Clearance racks only. They all have cute selections in size 7-14. I filter out the inappropriate outfits. I usually pay $2-$6 for shirts, jeans and pants and no more than $8-$10 for dresses, shoes and outfits. Kohl's seems to have the largest selection here. I love to hunt for the bargains! Happy shopping!

Would you believe that I rarely shop for clothes for my kids? My girls get summer clothes for their birthdays from Grandmas, and winter clothes for Christmas. Occasionally, I will take them, but often to resale shops. We were looking for a LONGER denim skirt for Rachael at a resale shop just yesterday, but didn't find it. Last year, the stuff they got for Christmas didn't fit, so we returned them (to Penny's). The lady was wonderful about giving EACH GIRL a seperate card, and then I more or less let them loose to look. THEY HAD A BLAST!!! Faythe went up with her selections to the lady, and was told that she still had a little money left (about $3). So the lady took her by the hand to show her some stuff that had been really discounted. Mom also shops Kohl's.

www.chadwicks.com is the site Deena. I just ordered some things yesterday for the Fall. Check out the clearance. Sometimes you can find a great deal in your size! If you find something you like then check out this site for additional discounts (codes) http://www.momsview.com/chadwicks.shtml
