Okay, girls, I need some creative ideas here...my DH is turning 40 this Sunday and I'd like to do several "little, thoughtful, fun things" as well as his present. Our family celebrates each person's Birthday Week (3 days before, the day of, and 3 days after). I thought one day I'd put 40 chocolate kisses in his car for him to discover when he goes to work. I need other ideas along these lines that aren't super-expensive but thoughtful. I look forward to hearing from you all.
dont forget the 40 candles and 40 balloons I like the 40 hersey kisses. What about a card with 40 reasons why he's the best from the kids and 40 reasons to love him from you?
Put each reason a red/pink heart, and hang them from the ceiling in the front hall at eye level when he comes home from work. But I would just do 40 total!
I would go with 40 post it notes when I first read your hershey kiss idea I thought oh no they will melt, then I looked at where you lived and sighed because you live where you have a true fall weather. buy some rock candy or pop rocks and stick it in a bucket or planter like flowers, make a sign that says "40 Rocks!"
Make him find his present with a treasure hunt. Give him the first note that leads to the next note and so on, till you get to his present. I don't think 40 notes is a good idea here, but maybe you could spell "forty" and have each note hidden next to or in something that starts with teach of the letters. You have started this venture all ready. Would you let us know what you do? I enjoy knowing family traditions.
What about printing up some fun facts from the year of his birth? My husband turned 40 in September and we were going to have a big 1969 themed party. I found these facts from 1969 and was going to print them out in either booklet form or to put on a poster board for display. We ended up not being able to the party because my dad was very sick and I spent all my time at the hospital. I still have the facts saved. If you want them send me your email address in a pm and I will forward them to you. You could maybe print it uo on colored cardstock or something.
There's a website that you can put in the exact date of birth and it tells you all sorts of fun things about that date in history. From things like who was president to the news headlines to what was the Billboard #1 song... Sorry, I have forgotten the site address but maybe you could google it? Here's one for about $15, but it looks really cute! http://www.eventagram.com/
