I am a former hs'er who is in need of your help. Youngest son needs cursive handwriting help. I have looked........but I am hoping one of you knows where best to go...I need to build my own cursive writing lists... any suggestions. Mary
there are plenty of sheets avalable on the net. Try googleing it www.handwritingworksheets.com www.donnayoung.org/penmanship good luck !
www.handwritingforkids.com - I'm not sure if they have spot for you to create your own under cursive....but they have a lot of stuff. www.worksheetworks.com - so far this one is in beta and should be free. Under the cursive writing section you can type out a script that can either be copywork or they can trace. How old is your son? Is he just STARTING cursive, or is he been doing it and it's just sloppy? If he's just starting - I did the Handwriting For Kids with my oldest when she wanted to learn cursive (she had started teaching herself all wrong in first grade! I had to reteach it all!!!). I would print out each letter and let her trace it, write it, etc. Eventually I moved to words and word connections. We also used Horizon's Penmenship which is not expensive at all. Anyway...good luck!
I started with italic books, they were very easy to follow. then I noticed that my dd is interesed in the DN style . handwriting without tears helped her a lot.
My ds is in 2nd grade and begged to learn cursive this year. He couldn't care less for the workbooks or practice sheets we had. I found that just my showing him the letters myself has been best. I started with all the lowercase ones, 2 letters every day or so. After a couple of weeks, he knows all of them, can write words and sentences, and has started on the capital letters. He LOVES writing and learning cursive this way. Almost every evening he asks to do more with me. We use a regular wide-ruled spiral notebook - he hates the dotted-line "handwriting" paper. We also use his big chalkboard sometimes. Worked for us!
Ems started cursive in K. Her curriculum came with little booklets that progressed. She took to it right away and to this day, loves writing in cursive. We used A Beka's curriculum. But it might not be for everybody because it is repetitious and a Christian program.
