Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on some curriculum I was considering using for my DD that's 91/2 going in to 4th and DS who is 6 1/2 going in to 1st. I bought MUS along with Daily grams for DD. MUS and explode the code for DS for the summer. I then was told about T4L. I am now unsure what would be the best. Should I return MUS and use T4L. Decisions Decisions. I guess I'm felling pressured to find the best because I'm not getting any support from my family and I want to prove this is the BEST way to go. Dd started 1st grade ps after my divorce and did beautifully! It was just what she needed to get her out of her shell and to be a kid again. So now that she has some really good friends my familys afraid she will miss them and have trouble. "won't they miss their friends" is all I'm hearing. Aaahhhhh! Sorry to ramble and it's late. Thanks so much !!

I am using both programs with my kids. We are on our second week with MUS and hope this is the one for my family. I have used Time4learning off and on now for the past four years. I really like it for the 4-6 age range. By the time my oldest was 7/8 she didn't care for it. She rather read everything.
MUS is my main math and T4L is my supplement. It's hard to find the right curriculum since there are SO MANY OPTIONS. I never used the Daily Grams but I think some have added a writing course with it.

There is no such thing as "the best" curriculum, so please stop looking for it. I can tell you what I love and why, and someone else will tell you why they hate that very same curriculum. You'll even find that what works wonderfully with one child won't for another; I'm learning that big time right now with my youngest. He's having fits with the curriculum his older sisters have used, and I'm having to rethink things for next year!

If I were you, I'd got with MUS, since you already have it. As far as "feeling the pressure", you're new here and probably not heard about the Bean Dip approach to hs'ing. Read and learn.....http://www.homeschoolspot.com/showthread.php?t=5712&highlight=bean

I agree with sticking to MUS. T4L works for some, but personally, I wouldn't use it... not long term anyway. I'd use it as a supplement if necessary. I know for a while they were doing a 2 week money back guarantee. I'm not sure if they're still doing it or not. If so, you could try it.

Ditto with what Jackie said. I too wanted to find what was the "best curriculum." Now I know there is not one single best curriculum. Also, what works with one child may not work with another child.

Try what sounds good and then be willing to change if it does not work. You may want to look into your children's and your learning style. That can be quite confusing to figure out. My daughter is auditory. I still don't know what my 14-year-old son is. He likes to read but then he doesn't. He likes hands-on projects but then he doesn't. He definitely is not auditory. Knowing that does help.
