I know some people have Netfilx accounts. Anyone use Nextflix Educational DVDs on a regular basis for school?

I have tried but it doesn't work really well because we like to use it for "family night" movies. Granted - I did use it for Shakespeare :)

We are trying to incorporate it some. I have a DVD from a creation series to watch this week. I have several on my list. The worst part is finding time to screen them before hand to see if they are what I want my kids to see..lol.

We have used Netflix for a lot of space documentaries...NASA, Apollo missions, history of flight and space, etc.

I use it mostly for Documentaries as well.

Chicamarun, I am usually in a pickle as well; where movie night is concerned ...

We just noticed that netflix has an "instant watch" thing for your tv - i guess it downloads it.... and we might look at it for family night that way I can actually reserve some movies for school :)

I have the highest speed internet available over telephone lines... he fastest DSL...
But it is not fast enough for netflix's Instant watch... Like 6 gigs or something... still not fast enough... Plus, when I rent from netflix the wait never corresponds to the instant we need to see something...

SO, if you do a google search, or search on you tube you can find nearly ANYTHING on video for FREE... Right when you need it.

Check the VIDEO box on my page for plenty of video resources...

Now, this includes movies and tv shows...
Just look at HULU.com and surfthechannel.com

We use Netflix and love it. Currently we're using Young People's concert for our music education class and we use Planet Earth dvd series which covers animals and basic planetary stuff. I've also used it for Magic School bus and other educational material. I love it!

The "instant watch" on your TV is a little different. Heck with my slow internet I can watch DVD's on my laptop.... but I think I want the TV doohicky.... (yes that is my technical word for it this morning)

    My two cents

We use NETFLIX almost exclusively for educational films. We do a lot of science, bible and history movies. I like that you can keep them as long as you like.

I find that a cable connect VS DSL handles the pressure better. But yes, that 'TV doohicky' is neat and practical.

    Love our Netflix

We just started using it and love it but right now we are mostly doing movie catch with all those movies that we missed at the movie theatre that we wanted to see. I figure we are saving money by at least getting four movies in one week verse...renting it at video store. (We have the two movies at a time plan)

I also watched a few movies via internet that I missed its a free extra.

We did see Journey to Center of earth yesterday that was great for a movie unit study...volcanos, different rocks, two different countries.

    Have ya'll tried HULU.com yet?
It is free because they have small ads that play periodically in the vids. And they are sanctioned by the studios.

There are many video clips and MANY full feature films!

I just plain enjoy NETFLIX. I don't have to drag my kids to the video store (which did close while I was gone so now there isn't one in town) and try to watch them while I look for a movie.
My oldest and I look together and I have been finding my cartoons as a kid. I have gotten some educational ones but it's not a big interest to anyone but me but my oldest is still young.
