Hi, I registered for this site primarily to find information about homeschooling from seasoned homeschooling parents since I'll be starting to homeschool soon. I've posted a few times already but I was hoping to look through previous threads that may have already addressed questions that I currently have and even finding topics that I haven't even thought about as being important for my situation. The problem is that there is very little information that I can actually access and I'm just wondering why I can only go through about two pages worth of threads in each category. Do the moderators not allow new members full access to all the previous threads and if so, what is the point of me staying on as a member? I can understand there being a specific thread for members that have been longtime members or frequent posters. But what I don't understand is why previous threads are blocked. Can anyone shed any light on this? Any help is appreciated.
I don't know that they're blocked, actually. Did you try the search function? it's up on the top, right next to where it says New Posts. If you go to a specific category, like Homeschooling or Other Conversation, then go to the bottom of the screen, you'll find a place at the bottom that says Display Options. Click on "From the". The default is "last two months" but you can select how far back you want it to go, including "Beginning". There are almost 800 pages of topics in Homeschooling. Hope this helps.
We do have a few boards blocked, but those are usually not general homeschooling information. There's a political board that's blocked so we can discuss without trolls, and also a general conversation board, that gives us more freedom to talk about our families without (as much) worry about lurkers. These become accessible after I think 30 days AND 50 posts. I'm not sure you can really "access information" easily here. Best thing for you to do is ASK, ASK, ASK, and we will try to the best of our ability to answer your questions.
