I was joking with my husband a few days ago. I said, "You know? Bad things really DO come in 3's! First, we smash our truck and it no longer is useful and we have no car. Second, our Mom and Dad's expensive freezer breaks down and they lose 4 trashbags of stored meat. Third, I lose my babysitting job that we depend severely on the money from each month." All seemed pretty bleak, and I prayed to know what God's plan was! What in the worl could this Man have in store for me!! We were struggling to come up with a plan, and it came...from my son! Beau came over to me and said, "Don't be sad Mom! Make some cookies and we'll all feel better!" It was cute, it lifted my spirits, but...wait a minute...My Dad does Phenominal BBQ catering and he was always hiring out for his desserts! Why can't I do his desserts!? I love to bake! I love to create! I may be a novice, but I have plenty of time to practice! I spoke to my Dad, and he has agreed that we can go into business together! I am so excited! I have a TON of baking pans, cupcake pans, cheesecake pans, and frosting supplies I can use! We decided my little business name is going to be "The Honey Badger Bakes". Honey Badger has been a little joke with us since Highschool. I like to say that I liked Honey Badgers before Honey Badgers were cool! LOL I would like a small venture to start out, but it seems like I will be making dessert for 200-300 people! Whew! I pray this works! God has really opened a door for us, and I think it will be extremely profitable!
Wow! That's great! I have a friend who, like you, enjoys baking. She also had 4 kids so getting a job outside the home was pretty much not an option. Well, she baked up a few items, sliced them, made up a price list of items she could bake really well and went around to privately owned restaurants in town. And you know what? She actaully got buyers. She'd do Red Velvet cakes for a cajun place in town every Friday and had a few other places that put in smaller orders. She did that for about 6 months and it got them through a tight spot. So, great idea! Best of luck to you!
