I just discovered homeschooling forums tonight and I'm thrilled. We live in Elgin, SC(just outside on NE Columbia). I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. DH and I have been together 12 years. This is our 1st year homeschooling and so far so good. It was a little difficult at first but when we found Saxon Math and teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons Life improved ALOT. When I have free time I squeeze in some scrapbooking (this counts towards craft time right, the kids will draw and color and make a mess right along with me). Well anyway, Hello to everyone and I'm sure I will be visiting here often for the next 12 years.
Welcome to the homeschool spot. This is a neat place to be and if you have any question just ask there is always someone in here who can help with it. Or find something on line to help you with a project. My name is Kris and I been homeschooling for 5 years and have two dd's whom are 13 and 11 and we enjoy homeschooling. Hope to see more of you in here.
Welcome and nice to see another person from SC. Trish and I both are from Pickens, SC near Greenville/Clemson area.
Hi there, and welcome! We are in our 8th year of homeschooling this year. I have a 14-yo ds (10th), and 12-yo ds (7th), and an almost 9-yo dd (4th). The younger two have never been to school. The oldest went to K and 1st before we saw the wisdom of homeschooling and brought him back home! It was a great choice! We all still really enjoy homeschooling! We thought of sending our oldest to school since he's in highschool, but he didn't want to. He would've gone to a Christian school, and he knows most of the kids. He was kind of enticed for awhile, but decided to stay home for the rest of highschool. We'll see how that goes, so far so good! Best wishes with you homeschooling, I think you've made a great choice! I still remember when I started, I had a 2nd grader a 3 year old and a baby---that was interesting! Though the little ones took naps, which was helpful, because that's when he and I would do his schooling. We took it one week at a time at first (I wasn't sure I could do it, even though I had a degree in Elementary Education), then a month at a time, then a year at a time. Now, here we are, 8 years later and still going strong! God is good! Again, WELCOME! Enjoy your next 12 years!
