Hi! I posted back in Spring about homeschooling and that we didn't have a lot wrong with our school, but we just were thinking this would be better. It turned out their school CLOSED three weeks into summer, so that really pushed us to make this decision. I am going through a charter school and we will start on Monday (aug 31). I have three kids, ages 10, 7, and 18 months. THe older two will be doing second and fifth grade work. I had my heart set on picking out our own curriculum and going into this wholeheartedly, but as the date approaches, I don't feel even close to ready. I let the ES get a boxed set for us and I think I am just going to take it easy the first few weeks while we get the hang of things. I can always order more as we get into the school year. I had all sorts of ideas for things I want to do, but I just dont feel ready to implement anything yet. (been having pain issues of my own) It may not be the best for them, but in PS they spend the first month on review anyways, so I am hoping they won't be any WORSE off. This is what I keep telling myself.... I have lurked on here ever since I first posted, so I appreciate all the information and links you guys have shared. Looking forward to "meeting" other homeschooling mommies!
I am sure your children will benefit greatly from being at home with you. Don't beat yourself up....the first year is overwhelming and a time to get adjusted. From that point on...it's still trial and error..lol...so hang in there. I suggest you keep a homeschool notebook and write down your ideas or curriculum you see online that you may be interested in and so forth. Keep it simple so you and your children have the time to adjust and enjoy homeschooling. If you push it and it leads to a bad experience all of you will be disappointed and frustarted. Welcome and I hope to see you all over the forum!
