Is anyone else having trouble "adjusting" to the new look of the site?

Yea This site is hard to get use too. No more smiles or anything. But, we all will get use too just don't like changes do we. I know I don't. Love the old one better.
Just something for a old lady to have to figure out. LOL

I sent out an email to everyone to warn you about the change - If you didn't get it, maybe the notification was blocked.

I discovered a security hazard with the old forum and had to make a last minute change. It's either this or the forum would be closed today.

I still have some things to fix, so be patient. The smilies will be back, and I spent an extra hour or two lst night trying to tweak the look so it wouldn't be as different for you all.

    The scooby doo cake:
Images aren't allowed in signatures - You might want to resize it and upload it as your avatar if you want to show it off. :)

This software also has a profile picture option. So, when someone clicks on your profile, it shows up. You could play around with that too. It's in your User CP (User Control Panel) -- the first link on the navigation bar:

Thanks Amanda, I will have my son take a look. I am quite limited with technology, hats off to you and your knowledge with this forum set up.

Don't want to come across as ungreatful, just hard to get used to a new format. I understand it takes time to tweak and get the bugs out.

Thank you for your efforts in bringing homeschool families together.

I'm use to the site because this is what a to z looks like. Trust me, you will like it better once you get use to it. There are a lot of more up to date features and it's easier once you get the hang of it. I like this better than the old one.

I liked it better the first time I got on it! Lots of cool features added! I like how you can drag over a post to be reminded of the topic...helps with all the new people and the posts with the same name (i.e. "Help"). I love how we can reply on the same screen that we are looking at, too.

Thanks Amanda! BTW, is that your puppy? I haven't seen you with an avatar yet! :D

I'm going to create a thread soon with directions on how to change your time/date and email notifications, and other things I find that didn't transfer over correctly. When I imported your member accounts over, it set everyone's time to GMT time and turned email notifications off. (So, if you get a reply, you don't get a notification emailed to you. This was on by default with Homeschool Spot.) Most everything is accessible through your User CP link, so browse around if you want. http://www.homeschoolspot.com/usercp.php

Yes, my avatar is my dog, our only child for the time being. I just got this avatar a week or two ago and uploaded it to HS Spot when I was transferring everything last night.

I also like how you can tell if someone is online by the little illuminated dot. Jen's right, it will get easy and you will like it better.

Thanks, Amanda! My only "complaint" was the lack of e-mail, but you've already addressed that. And my other "complaint" I finally found...it was there all the time, just took some time for me to locate it. (I always have trouble finding something when it's plainly out where anyone can see it!!!)

I think the new look is great! Of course, it will take some getting used to, kinda like when we all moved over here from atoz.
I was having alot of problems with the site before- never able to see "new posts since last visit" among other things, so when I saw this new look, I was really excited.
Thanks for all the hard work you put in, Amanda, to make this an enjoyable place for us to "visit" with each other.

I like the idea that when you go to the main page, you can see what the most recent post (preview) was in a particular forum. I'm still trying to figure out the avator thing, but I'll figure it out in time..

I think the old program had more bugs in it so you'll have fewer problems with this. This software is what I've been using at atoz for 4 years so it's a good solid program. It also cost a lot more, but it's worth it.

I didn't know what you were talking about (the gingerbread person), but realized it is under some people's avatars - You can hold your mouse over almost any image and a description will pop up to tell you what it's for - For instance, on HeidiPA's post, if you hold your mouse over the "gingerbread person" (actually the little AOL person), it says "Send a message via AIM to HeidiPA". AIM = AOL Instant Messenger
