We went to see the new doctor today and it was great! Our previous one was TERRIBLE. My son would cry the entire time and she made no effort to hid the fact that it annoyed her. Anyway, the new doctor was very nice and even though ds was hesitant he just whimpered a little and never fully freaked out. He was excited that he got to pick something out from the treasure chest when he was done. So it was a good day for him!
Jen, that makes doctor appointment so much easier when the doctors and nurses are friendly, I am sure glad it went better for him and you.
That's great. I always say switch if you don't like them: hairdressers, Drs, etc etc. We aren't 'married to them' and there is no obligation to stay. I am glad you are happy. We switched from a Ped to a Fam Dr several years ago and we are much happier!!
We have a family doctor too and we love her. Glad your little one had a better visit with the new doctor. Boy those treasure chests sure do help out.
It is funny that you guys say that. My dh is a family doctor and that is what we had seen all through residency. When we came here, though, the family clinic does not see kids under 2 ever, and rarely sees any kids. I felt a little awkward making a big deal about switching since she was dh's colleague, but thankfully ds is very healthy and she quit before we ever had to go back. When we have a choice, I am sure we will go back to a family doctor. I guess I am a little biased in their favor. ha!
We have always had the picking done for us since we are in the military...But I think it would be hard to pick, because I am not crazy about going to someone I know socially, and that is probably how I would know that they were nice...Thankfully we are pretty healthy!!
I would just hate to have to pick a new ped. My whole family LOVES the one we have. He is awesome! If my insurance didn't cover him I may consider putting on my payroll. (now you all know that is a huge joke! LOL...if only I could do that!)
