This possum is eating our cat food. It was on the windowsill to keep the dogs from getting it. Our grandson is facinated. I've never been this close to one.

It just turned it's head my way when it was chewing. I took about 15 pictures, these two showed one from the side and one with his mouth open. We tapped the window but it didn't move. It didn't even leave when the tom cat jumped up there and sat right next to it. Musta been hungry, huh?

HOW AWSOME!!! We had one in our backyard when I was a kid. The dog wanted outside, barking like crazy, so I opened the door to let her out, and this darned thing was RIGHT THERE, in the trash just outside the door. It took off running, the dog after it. It jumped up on the fence and ran up and down the fence, with the dog running at the bottom of the fence chasing it. It was dark, and I really didn't get a good look at it. Just some nasty-looking critter, almost like a VERY large rat!!! I don't think I had ever seen one before. Dad ended up getting a live trap and catching it, then letting it go at a park not too far away.

I think I am going to have a heart attack! When I clicked on this post, I had no idea I would see one so close! I HATE THEM! I would just die! I have a friend that lives in texas and knows someone who kept one as a pet. Both of us wanted to throw up. I am so sorry but I just think they are heinous.

If I ever see one outside my window, I would stay inside for the next million years. I love nature and spiders don't bother me. however, centipedes, rodents, and opossums are just awful, to me anyway.

Hee, hee!!! I just saw one yesterday in the day on the side of the road and pointed it out to the kids. A week or so ago we had one walking in our front yard at night. They are very prominent around here!

We had a roadrunner in our Parking Lot the other day... I think those are so cute. :) I wish I'd had my camera all ready.

The only roadrunner I've ever seen was the one the Wile E. Coyote use to try to catch on Saturday mornings.....

Here is our roadrunner. He has remained around our property for about 3 years and I finally saw a second one. Maybe we'll habe babies! The eat lizards and snakes.

Aww Cool. I love roadrunners! One summer back in HighSchool, I lived 1/2 mile down the same street as my Aunt and I'd walk up there every morning for a few hours. "my" little roadrunner would wait outside my door for me to leave. He'd run a few feet ahead of me and wait for me to pass and then run ahead again! When we got to my Aunts house it'd wait outside to walk me back home. :)

Now roadrunners are something I can deal with. In northwest ohio, I closest I get to cool wild life is the zoo. I did however see a opossum on the road. Oh and my dog was throwing a rat up against the garage for fun last summer. but the opossum was worse. My kids will show me pics just to freak me out. lol.

Wow that is REALLY a close up shot! I think they look like a really mad oversized rat! Oh well, they are God's critters still no matter how they look! lol! Real good homeschool lesson on the rat family!

    Man, o man.
We lived out in the boonies before we moved here. That place was infested with oppossums. We had a large cat, who was too lazy to be a gaurd cat. Anyway, we had a Pet Door cut into our back door for the cat. Yup! The oppossums decided to "Check out the house"!

We tried everything to get rid of them, and never could.
By the way, have you ever seen how fast a oppossum can scale a 6 foot wood fence? Up and over in about 1 second! Whew!

Just stay clear of them, they have a mouth like a crock, full of teeth.
