Anyone heard of or used this curriculum? I really am a boxed set person. I get nervous if it isn't all spelled out for me. I know my issue not my kids, but it is how I HAVE to function. I was just looking for something that wasn't near as strict (school room at home like) that we could do and still have it all there and written out for me. Thanks for any input
What I have figured out so far is that it is Waldorf style schooling with a bit more of a structure. Basically like it is designed for those who want to use the Waldorf style but are in a state that requires more bookkeeping. The lessons are planned out weekly rather then daily with suggestions on how to simplify or add more to it based on the needs of the child. It is more reading/writing based then actual workbooks etc. My oldest is weakest in these and my second oldest is weak in writing. So it may be a good emphasis for us next year. It supposedly requires a significant amount of parent involvement. Many have said that unless the parent is really organized it is not easy to do for multiple grade levels. This is the part that worries me about it. As having to deal with 3 different grade levels and two toddlers next year. I don't know if I am THAT organized. But at the same time, many reviews have stated that for kids who have really been discouraged by many other forms of intense learning that this curriculum had really brought the love of learning back to their child. Some reviews stated that the curriculum is a bit slow. Others have said the math/science was slow but the language arts was advanced. A few reviews said that there were errors in the science curriculum. But those reviews are old and I couldn't find anything recent or anything on the Oak Meadows site that stated whether or not those errors were addressed. It is secular education, but supposedly designed to incorporate any religious study. Some reviews have stated that parents like this option as some of the Christian based curriculum was too much or not in the exact direction they wanted to teach their children. So anyway, I thought I had my curriculum picked out for next year. But as you can see by the above, I am strongly considering this one. If anyone has anything else to add, I would greatly appreciate it.
