Just had to share this with you all, even though my heart is still in my stomach! (anyone else use that phrase?) We just got home from town. I was the first one in line at a stoplight. Our light turned green, and I went to step on the gas but my foot slipped off. So I had to stop, and look down and get my foot back on the gas, and look up again. Just as I was starting to put on the gas again, a car came flying through their red light through the intersection, missing us by only a foot or so! They were going at least 40mph, at least! If my foot wouldn't have slipped off the gas pedal, we would've been right in the path of that car!!! My dd's friend was sitting in the seat behind me, so she and I would've been in very bad shape! So, I am praising the Lord for sending my angel to shove my foot off the gas pedal!!!
Praise the Lord for His hand of protection on your family! Situations like yours remind me never to doubt that God is in control!
Whoo Hoo!!!!! God is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! I love hearing how He sends his angels to shield us!
oh Buddy, that made shivers go down my back, that is so scary when things like that happen, I am so glad those angel came and pushed your foot. Never second guess them again, they know what they are doing.
Praise God!!!! I am very thankful for your safety and for you giving God the glory as you never fail to do.
Thanks everyone! My dd has told some of her friends as well, because it was just so definitely God protecting us! Then we wonder why God protects us sometimes and not others??? Some things we won't know until He comes and takes us home!
Oh Deena I am so glad you are ok! I'm sorry I missed this post earlier (I'm not sure how). I am sure this experience will stick with you for a long time. (((HUGS))) From the mouth of babes, huh. Perhaps there you could share with them some thoughts from the Bible to help them understand. The Bible says that “time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In other words we can all simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Divine protection is given at times; the Bible is clear on that. God has provided divine protection in the past and will in the future. (Exodus 19:3-6; Isaiah 54:17; Daniel 3:17, 18; Acts 12:1-11) But if you notice, there are many faithful followers recorded in the Bible that did die. Take for example James. Certainly God could have saved him but instead was allowed to be martyred in 44 C.E. when only a short time after Peter was rescued from death by God’s angel. Why, when they were both obviously doing God’s will? The Bible shows the divine protection is not simply to allow individuals to live a longer life but is to protect the outworking of God’s purpose. God uses the person who is in the best position to accomplish his purpose which ultimately benefits all mankind. In the case of James and Peter, Peter was used to “strengthen” the congregation which also included writing two of the inspired books of the Bible. (Luke 22:32) So, as individuals we don’t have assured divine protection unlike the Christian congregation as a whole (which is guaranteed because it is closely linked with the fulfillment of God’s purpose). That is why Jesus stressed endurance rather than miraculous deliverance. (Matthew 24:9, 13) As mere humans we cannot know exactly how or who may receive divine protection. We should never judge those that truly believe divine intervention occurred. We can be assured of is that God’s will is being accomplished and that Jesus is with his followers until the end of this system, particularly through angelic direction of preaching the good news. (Matthew 28:20; Matthew 13:36-43; Revelation 14:6) God does not want us to die. He is working to preserve our life not just for a few years but for eternity. He is maneuvering events for our eternal benefit. (Matthew 18:14) Compared with the everlasting benefits anything (including death) in this system is “momentary and light.” (2 Corinthians 4:17)
Yes, thankyou Seeking Truth! I know it was Divine Intervention, I KNOW it, PTL! I have NEVER had my foot slip off this gas pedal, in fact it is HARD for it to slip off because part of the inside of the van goes down right next to it! My oldest ds and my dh both said they've never had their foot slip off, nor have they seen mine slip off! That's one reason I looked down at my foot, because I couldn't figure out how it could happen! I can still picture the whole thing in my mind: looking up and beginning to go, and seeing that car going through the red light and barely missing us! What I wish I could remember is the feeling of my foot being pushed off the gas pedal by the angel! (that's what I think happened!) I think one reason dd brought up that thought is because about 4 or 5 years ago a young friend of ours and her boyfriend, both around 18 years old at the time, were in the same town (not the same light) and stopped at a red light. Their light turned green, and they started out into the intersection, when a car coming the other way ran their red light and plowed into them! Our friend's boyfriend was killed. She was injured, and has recovered, but it was such a sad thing! So we were thinking, wow, that could've been us! That's why I said, some things we just won't know until we get to Heaven. Only God knows all the extenuating circumstances!
