Oh, yeah!!! It was funny, because a hs'ing friend sent out something on FB about this. I called, and then posted on the co-op page. THEN I received notice with both the state organization (CHEO) and HSLDA.

It's VERY intrusive. Basically, this kid had been abused for YEARS, with multiple calls to Children's Services. Eventually, the mom pulled him out to "homeschool", and the kid died at the hand of Mom's boyfriend. So this well-meaning busy-body Democrat lawmaker decides that, if the child wasn't homeschooled, he could have got the help he needed, totally ignoring the fact that Children's Services had been called numerous times. So her idea is to have CPS check out EVERY family before they start homeschooling, doing a home investigation and PRIVATE interviews with the kids, to determine if homeschooling should be allowed. So what if you have legal fire arms in the home? What if you spank your children? Could they determine that the house is "potentially abusive" on those grounds? It's a VERY intrusive law.

I sincerely hope good sense will prevail, and lawmakers will see that this "fix" is not related to the fundamental problems -- an abusive adult and a system that failed to protect the child.

This law is so intrusive that I find it hard to believe it will gain further ground. Perhaps that's naive of me. I sincerely hope not.
