Everyone gets the feeling of cabin fever and the feeling of being in a rut. Mix things up a little, do the subjects in different order. Spend the math period in the kitchen baking a cake or cookies learning fractions, etc. Go to a museum for Science and History.

Just shake it up a little!

I'm kind of in a February funk. I'm worried about a few things (hubby's job, my father's health and how much my son and daughter are actually learning) and my worries seem to be coming out in frustration over the house being messy and my son just not working to his potential. I feel like I'm under pressure to get my son working up to grade level just in case I have to send him to school. Come to think of it I'm also worried about getting my daughter ready for kindergarten. Hubby and I are finally deciding in the next week where we are going to send her for kindergarten.
Whew! That felt good to type that out.

I hope we all get out our February rut real soon!

I would always make sure everything was picked up the night before and the kitchen was clean. There is something about waking up to a messy house that sets the tone for the rest of the day for me!

Take a deep breath, now let it out! Cut yourself some slack. Have fun along the way and don't get in a mind set that it is a chore and it must be done. It will be done, enjoy homeschooling, be diligent and it will all work out. (((( ))))

okay, heres a few things to get out of the funk---

Treat this month like LOVE MONTH--- do something each day to show love for your family--- each kid, something special a love note or a cookie, and put them in unusual places like the math booK!
switch your classes around if you do it on schedule,
    Invite Mrs SlipSkirt to teach....
Have "Spirit week" dress in differnt styles of clothes or colors depending on your wardrobe...

I get slumps a lot so I try to shake things up.. I think today is just one of those days.

I totally get that way too! I start off so strong and eager and organized, but usually start to fizzle a bit around Feb -March. My recommendation is to pick up a new book or start a new unit, new idea, a new class, some to bring that newness back to your hs!

Yep- I'm definitely tired of the responsibility.I joke to a couple of moms -that I know I can joke with- that if they'd each just loan me a thousand dollars each, I could send Jeannie to that school I want her to attend.;)

I second this!!! I can't stand clutter and our house was awful. We took off Friday and spend a whopping 2 hours cleaning. And the house was spotless. I have gotten up at 5:30 nearly all this week and read my bible and prayed. I have been trying to keep up with the laundry. So I try to get a few loads done before the kids get up.
This gives me a feeling of accomplishment and I can get on with my day without worrying about a dirty house.

you know thats part of the problem with busy schedules we dont get it as clean as I like, and no one else seems to worry about it untill I tell them they need to do thier chores.. so if I dont get on them it gets hecktic around here cause I try to marathon it... if you do that it gets manotonous!

I'm definitely ready for spring. I'm fighting a funk and we just haven't been able to get school back on track. It doesn't help that my washer and dryer cut out on me. On the way to the laundromat the other day my car started making strange noises. Oh well, we are supposed to have beautiful weather this weekend so hopefully that will help. That and if I could just get my house organized!

Too bad all of us in the "funk" couldn't just get together for a playdate and we could call it a socialization gathering! hehe
Yesterday was a really hard day. We haven't been getting our work done like we should so we really pounded the books - which doesn't help with the funk. The co-op we joined is a total disappointment - no field trips and we just took two months off for the holidays. Thankfully when our tax money comes back we are going on a two day vacation to a indoor water park. Hopefully that will do it! Then we'll be almost to March. Maybe we'll make some premature spring flowers and decorate the house!
