Well DH called the dr today and they had him come in and get vaxed for CP. Just to be safe. So he'll go back in another 4 weeks for the second in the series and then we won't have to worry again. Now if only there was some magic something for the baby to protect him...maybe I can invent a bubble for him?

There is a homeopathic medicine Rhus Toxicodendron that is really good on chicken pox intching. My ds was just over one years old when he had the pox and when he would wet his diaper the calamine lotion would be of no use to him here and he would be squirming around being ithcy. Someone once told me that homeopathics are just in our minds, we take these little white balls and "think" the symptoms away, but there is no "thinking away" itching with a one year old. He was no longer itchy.
Any local health food store would carry it. It is a very good thing for the itchies during chicken pox.

Here is a link to a thread on this topic for ideas to do at home to help the hurting folks with chicken pox: http://www.welltellme.com/discuss/index.php/topic,2810.0.html

Actually, there are also types of "homeopathic" remedies called isopathics and nosodes, which are specialty remedies made from that person during the illness and from the actual microbes of illness, respectfully. I have used these kinds of things often with pets and people. You cannot "convince" an animal he is better from drops or sugar pills. The homeopathic for teething was very convincing with my baby and I used it a few times when I have an issue with my gums once. It was amazing how well it worked.

One of my dd had it when she was 4 months She had a light case and she was very easy to care for, My 2 yo was not she kept trying to scratch them. I tied some oatmeal in a knee high and put it in her bath it seemed to help. I reused the bag a few times. Just makes the tub a little messy.

Hopefully they won't come down with it. If they do just take one day at a time.
