Well, I think the big shoe sizes blow me away because we're a petite family. DH is the only "big" one and he's only 5'10". I'm 5'1/2". My shoe size is pretty big for my height (sz 7) so dd's size 3 is not too far behind me and she's 8!

Becky~ Yes, (sigh!), Gracie is very thin! Tall and skinny (and she DOES NOT get that from her mom! LOL) In the summer, she was still wearing some 18 and 24 month shorts; but I did give them away, as they were beginning to look a bit short! It's so hard to find clothes to fit her~ I think my mom gets tired of me bringing her a stack of pants that need taken in~ but most pants that are long enough will literally fall down! Hence, the reason I'm so glad she's into the 4-6x sizes and they have slims! On a heavy day, fully clothed, she tips the scales at 33 or 34!
Oh, I was once told that Nike's run small~ I believe they are a 1/2 or whole size smaller than the other brands. Gracie's feet are just like the rest of her~ long and thin! Most little kids shoes are made a bit on the wide side, so that makes for interesting shopping as well!

I can attest to the Nike size issues. About a size smaller in the children's anyway.

Oh wow. My dd has stopped growing she is now 4' 10". That is the height she has been for about 2 years now. She started to get her pubic hair around 10 and started her time at 13. She is wearing a size 6 shoe. She really didn't have to wear a bra until after she started then they took off. She is into a B cup. Lets hope she stays there. I was a late bloomer I didn't start until I was around the age of 15. I am also very very short I am all of 4'11" tall. So I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree. Wouldn't have very far to fall in my case.
I can't imagine telling my 8yo that she is starting womanhood at such an early age. That is way to early they are still playing with dolls and wanting to cuddle up with you on cold mornings.
My ds is going to be a late bloomer. His dad was and so was his uncle. Both were around the same age of 16 to 17 before they started getting any signs of puberty. My brother didn't hit his growing spurt until he was close to 18 then he grew 6 inches in 6 months. My dh was also close to 18 when he hit his growing spurt or getting any facial hair. My ds has starting to wear deodorant only because he wants to be just like his dad.
My son is only 4'4" tall at 11. And weighs around 75 lbs. So I guess you can say that he is small for his age. Last checkup he was in the low percentile for boys his age.
I do believe that it has something to do with the environment that we live in that causes some kids to bloom early very early.

My dd is 8 and wears size 6 clothes because she is so skinny, anything bigger falls off her! It's so hard to find clothes for her, cuz she's having a growth spurt---but in height only. I was the same way. My mom made most of my pants cuz I was too skinny to get regular girl pants. They didn't have slims then. Some of the 7 slims fit her, but the 8 slims are still way to big, though they fit in length!

My 12 yo is very skinny also. He wears size 14 for length, but they fall off him if they are regulars. I was getting him slims at Walmart, and things were fine---until this Walmart stopped caring slims above a size 10! Grrrr!

Anyone know good places to get slims? I have a hard time finding them for both my ds and my dd. Maybe I should check Sears???

Heidi.. That sounds so familiar. Sami so tall and thin.. She is the same height as the 6 year old kindergarteners at the school I teach at! She kept wearing these jeans all summer... sized 18 months, they looked like capri's (almost shorts) on her because they were way too short but she is so thin that they fit nicely in the waist area. I made her get rid of them because they had the snaps on them for diaper changing and I didn't like people knowing I was letting her wear 18 month jeans. haha

But really, buying clothes is really difficult!

When we were getting ready to go on our mission trip in July, we went to Goodwill to try to find some clothes for my dd, since we'd been unsuccessful some other places. She found some and tried them on. They had an elastic waist band, which works best for skinny ones, and fit well. They were size 4 pants, and she wore them as capris, like your dd did Syele! At least they didn't have the diaper change snaps! That's funny! :D
