So, I am pleased to announce, that after our first month of homeschooling, my son is doing GREAT! He is still excited about school, he is making great progress, and his sister is also learning (although, since she is 3, my focus is mostly on my 1st grader for school). His attitude problems have almost disappeared, and he is excited about helping his little sister, and doing his chores. He has grown in his knowledge and curiosity about God, and looks forward to going to church. He is soaking up the things I am teaching him (I am using CLE) like a SPONGE!!! I actually thought that he might have some difficulty with some of it, learning macrons, breves and the like, but he has been doing wonderfully. His handwriting is improving, as is his spelling. And his reading is improving every day. Sorry for the brag, I am just so excited for him! I feel like he is finally fulfilling his potential with school. He is absolutely thriving with the one-on-one attention. I am so glad that we made the choice to homeschool!
Congrats Renae! I have one question for you though, what do you teach your 3 year old? I know its just a little bit but I'm curious. I have a 3 year old son and not sure what to do now to teach him.
Thanks, Lindina! Erika, I have several Gakken workbooks for her. Very simple stuff. Cut and Paste (she did about 10 pages today, and cried when I told her we were going to have to save some for tomorrow). We also have Let's Draw and Color, Let's Count 1-12 (She can already count to 26, but it's a good busy work/refresher for her), and we also have Let's Learn Letters (again, she knows them, but there are fun mazes, dot-to-dots, etc.) The workbooks were all about $3.99, but I got them at a discount because of a Border's that was going out of business. They all include stickers and lots of fun things for little ones to keep their hands busy. She has really enjoyed it, and it helps to keep her busy while I am working with my 6 year old.
Congrats and brag all you like!! Teaching my 1st grader was a blast, as well. It really is amazing what they can learn when they are ready
Brag on! Glad to hear you are all thriving. Also glad to hear you like CLE. We will be using it for 3rd grade this year. It will be my first time with it.
Hi Renae, am feeling happy for you...i started to homeschool my 3 kids (11, 9 & 6) early this year, and could't help thinking i should have done it long ago...cheers!
