When you are doing a timeline in a binder, how do you organize the dates?

    For example:
    Shakespeare
    1564- 1616

Does he go behind 1500's under a sub tab for 1564 or does he just go behind 1500. Do you do subtabs? Do you put people in by the date of the first accomplishment or by DOB? What if they were born in 1598 and they were well known in the mid 1600's? Would they go under 1600's or 1500's since they were born in 1500? Sorry if these seem like dumb questions, but DS & DH raised these points and I really have no idea.

I put them UNDER the tab. Always. It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I threw out a fairly expensive address book once cause it wasn't done right for me LOL (so I'm a bit OCD...)

Personally, I'd put them under the tab they were born in.

But I you could do it either way, just depending on what the point/purpose of your timeline is. I remember doing timelines differently for different reasons when I was in school.

I always classify everything by the start date. For people, that would be a birthday. For wars, the year it started. And so on....

    Cricutmaster,

I have often wondered the same. I am interested to hear what other people have to say.
