    Good morning everyone,
I hope this is OK to post here, I need opinions on what you consider could be improved in your kitchen or bathroom as far as cabinets are concerned. What could you find that you could use in there that you don't have there now. Things could include "Hidden" kitchen storage areas, roll out drawers for convenience instead of fixed shelves, spice racks on drawers, anything you have thought of that might make a good change and be a good convenience for everyone else too. I personally could use a door space to put my aluminum foil and like items as my drawer space in the kitchen is limited. I also want a corian cutting board. Virtually indestructable.

I really appreciate all your help, as this is my first real assignment on my new job. I've just been doing research thus far on software programs.

    Thanks for reading this,
    Kim R

Well Kim my sil had a cupboard I love and always told my dh when we get our house (Which I hope is soon now) I want one just like it. What it was was a long cupboard door that looked like a closet. When you open it you seen can goods and things. But then you could pull it out and everything was right there no wondering what was all the way in the back. No moving one can and another can to see what was in the back. It was neat. Just a idea. Might have that one already.

I'm getting new kitchen cabinets tomorrow! :) I am getting lots more drawer space, now I only have three, and although they are wide, they are thin, I have lots of kitchen gadgets and will like being able to put them in different spaces. I have seen however a shelf that can hold your stand mixer but then you pull it up when you use it. I also have an aunt that has a pull out cutting board, and one of those closet like things that you pull out the drawers, I just couldnt get ones like that because of space.

For those corner cabinets that go way back I have always wanted one of those things that come forward when you open the door so the way back items come forward. Does that make any sense?

    Hey Kim...

We don't mind things *off topic* here. LOL..At least I don't mind ) Our chatting always seems to steer to other topics anyway:lol:

Well since I'm right in the middle of a move--plus deciding what I want on my new house..I have some thoughts.. ..

I want a cookbook shelve at one end of my rounded island counter. I want the books titled so I can see the binding.. I don't want them in drawers or taking up valuable counter space.. So by putting them at the end of one island, it doesn't take up much space plus you can see them. I saw one in a magazine where there were two small titled shelves. So I guess you could have as many shelves as you had space.

Also, in my bathroom at one end of my garden tub, I want built in bookshelves...I need a place to put my books, what nots, paper, etc that can be reached from inside the bathtub....I want the top or bottom, doesn't matter, for closed storage like towels instead of having to step out of the bath tub,etc..

Not too mention, my built in Tv is already there..A bath should be a retreat. So in my house that includes both book shelves and Tv media storage..

I'm either going to have built or buy a pull out shelve that goes under my TV so that I can pull out all the DVDS without having to bend over and look back in the depths of *lost isism* LOL...I want it to pull out, with all DVDS on edge so that I can see what I have..

Too, I like to use space that goes up...So in one magazine I noticed they had used an old country screen as a shelf. It was repainted and rescreened, and they used chains and it went over the cooktop as a shelve. Useful and adorable looking..

One more thing for the bathroom I want is a tilted ladder for my towels and magazines...It just leans against the wall.(but it is fastened) It is built as slender or as wide as the wall you have..but you end up *utilizing* all the wall space instead of using *one* towel rack or bar...

In my closet, I use peg boards and hooks for belts, purses, etc. It is adjustable and you can add as many hooks as you like.

Also in my closet, I want a slender turning station. On one side I want a mirror, turn it around and it has hooks and/drawers.. But it utilizes the space in the middle of the closet...

Also, my shoes are on shelves....and like my other house had, I want a place to sit down in my closet to put on shoes, hose, etc...

I'm just skipping all around the house as I'm thinking about it--but back to the kitchen.

A spice rack on the door takes absolutely takes no space and you can utilize the whole door. I loved my built in one at my big house.

They say the average women is short. LOL.. I don't know, but I know I am...So I don't care about double ovens that are placed one on top of the other..I want them in different places in the kitchen at MY eye level, forget what NORm is suppose to be...LOL..

And I want a *working* island...I want a comfortable stool to sit down on while I chop my veggies, etc. at the island..with a small sink too there..

I also had big huge open bins for my potatoes and onions which I loved.. I put them in wicker baskets and put them on a shelve on the island. .

And I don't want to BEND over to find my appliances , like my blender, mixer, etc. I want them out and I want to pull down a cabinet over them like an appliance garage....

In my laundry room, I had a double wide counter top for folding clothes, with drawers underneath it for storage.....

Thats all i can think of for now...

Oh Tina I love your house I think when I get ready to get mind together I am calling you. I agree who cares about the double oven I can't see what's up on top I am short too. So, when I have two ovens in my kitchen I don't want them on top of each other. Also, I love the idea of the spice rack on the inside of the door. That is so neat.

I'll just have Tina call an archetect for me the next time I want to move!!! My one friend with nine kids (even more than Crystal, lol!) had a very large mud room built on to her house. And she actually has school lockers in it! Two for each kid (they're the kind that are short, and there's one on top of the other) and an extra one for the dog!

in a perfect world I'd have lots of cabinets.. all with shelves that side out so I'm never digging on my hands and knees trying to find a bowl in the back corner of the bottom corner cabinet. :) several drawers would be good too. ( I only have one skinny one now)

Also I went to a friends house who had the best thingy I ever saw in a kitchen.. Drawers that pull out and are refridgerated and are the perfect height for bottles of water and sodas... I told her I wanted to take her drawers home (She had TWO of them) LOL
