Last night Aiden left the front door wide open while Troy wasn't looking. Because of this, our Puggle, Lucy, ran out of the door after a rabbit or squirrel. Her nose always gets her in trouble. She then proceeded to run into a busy intersection where she got hit by a car. We have no idea what kind of car. The driver of the car didn't even slow down or stop...they kept on going. :evil: Troy didn't notice that she was gone until he heard her yelping from down the road. He went out to see what was wrong, and there was Lucy limping out of the road. She collapsed on the sidewalk and about a minute after Troy got to her she was gone. :cry: She died in his arms as he was carrying her up to the house. The worst part...the kids had to see her die. We took her up to the vet and our vet said that she got hit right in the heart and neck. She had blood coming out of her nose and bled internally pretty fast. I'm just mortified. She was only 2 years old. She was such a good dog, despite her beagle instincts that got her in trouble. Here's a pic of our Lu-Lu. I'm just beyonds words. :cry: In the meantime, I am going to put in a request for additional stop signs by the intersection where she got hit. It's a horrible intersection, and I for one have almost gotten into several accidents because of it. If something good can come out of this, I'm hoping this can. We will miss you Lucy. We loved you more than anything!
Oh Jen, my heart aches for you. It's so hard when you lose them they are like family. Jen, you are a great mother, I am sure you will have the right words for the boys if they ask. Remember we are here for you all. ((((((((((((((HIGS))))))))))))))))))))) now my board is getting another wash.
I am so sorry for your family's loss. Pets become part of the family and it hurts so much to lose them.
Thanks gals. Aiden doesn't really have a clue, due to his age. Tanner is feeling some slight anger towards Aiden right now so I'm trying to explain that it's not his fault and that he doesn't know any better (I get tired of saying that). Tanner is carrying a pic of Lucy around, and crying over it. Through the 12 years that Troy and I have been together, I have only seen him cry two other times. Last night was actually the worst. It's bad enough when you have to say goodbye to a pet when they are too old, but when it's unexpected I have to say I feel much worse. I have gone through losses before with pets, but never have I felt this much heart ache.
Jen, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is aching terribly for you right now. I know this is so hard. ((((big hugs)))))
(((((hugs))))) I'm so sorry for you all. From the picture, she looks like a beautiful dog. I know it really hurts to lose a beloved pet. Those little darlings have a way of getting in your heart and becoming one of the family. I really am sorry for the loss of your family's beloved Lucy. LR
I'm so sorry to hear about Lucy Jen, a few years ago we lost our beloved cat due to some heartless person poisioning him,but thankfully as much as my girls hated to see it, he managed to drag himself home and curled up in a ball and fell asleep. Sending hugs to you all (((((()))))
((((())))) My inlaws had a puggle that they got summer 08 and May of this year they were outside and the puggle crossed the road and they called him back. What they didn't know was that a car was coming and he got hit and died. They took it very hard. Puggles have such a personallity. They did end up getting another one after about 2 weeks. They love their new puggle but still miss the old one. I'm sorry that your family has to go through this. It's hard on us but even harder to see our children go through it.
We will be waiting for a couple years before we get another dog. I want to make sure Aiden is a little more responsible before we get another one. I'm not sure what breed we will look into. Puggles DO have such big personalities. They have such energy and playfullness. If we get another Puggle I'm so afraid that we will compare the new one to Lucy...and we loved Lucy so much. She really fit perfectly into our family. We shall see what God brings us when we do look into getting another dog. Right now though, I think it's too soon for us. Things are a bit better today. I still get teary eyed from time to time. All of our friends and family have been so supportive and caring. A friend of mine is going to take some of Lucy's ashes and make them into stones for me. I know it sounds creepy, but I really want something to remember her by, and I think giving Tanner a stone will help him as well.
I'm so sorry Jen! It'll get better, and not hurt so much. You'll move on.......but you'll never forget! She was too special for that! Just know you're being thought of and prayed for now! And, like Kris, my eyes are all teared up---needed to clean my keyboard anyway! (((((BIG HUGS!!!!!)))))
