We just got a wooden swingset/ fort/slide/rope ladder thing for our little girl, from Creative Playthings. In the showroom these sets were gorgeous. The one we got, the wood was awful looking, the slide was scratched because they laid the wood inside it. I told hubby he needed to call and request another slide. For 1799.00, the only thing on this slide better be diamonds and rubies. He doesn't like to make waves but he called and they did replace it. Did anyone else ever own one of these?
Yeah, I know we could have bought one of those sets and built our own, but the head of my house wouldn't cooperate.

How is your swingset holding up? Do you still like it and your kids play on it?

My dh made ours, just drew up what we wanted and bought wood. The slide was the most expensive thing! Just crazy that a piece of plastic is expensive like that. I know what you mean about scratches too! It actually gets scrated pretty easy! Drats.

Oh, well, they are fun and they do just sit outside and get dirty:)

I wish we could have gotten somehting like that for Grace. Too expensive for us though. We have a cheapy swingset from Wally World that is falling apart. I think after the summer we will take it down and toss it. I'd like to hang a tire swing from the tree.

I am glad they replaced the slide.
That is a lot of money and it should look like the one in the showroom. Good for you!
Emma's swing set was falling apart so Handsome cut it up and made her a ballet bar.

I'd just make sure it's sturdy enough. When I was a little kid I had a wooden swing set and while swinging on it the entire thing collapsed.

Great gobs- we've had that thing three years already. It is holding up well, I must say. We got what we paid for. It certainly doesn't look three years old. Jeannie is on it all the time. The little playhouse we got her is another story. I wanted her to have one of those pricey, little wooden playhouses because I couldn't do things like that for Kevin when he ws small. Well, she liked it at first, then the novelty wore off. We're trying to figure out how to move it once we know what we're doing with it.

We got a cheap - o swing set given to us. The fun of it lasted about a month now it just takes up space in our yard. We do have an awesome tire swing. My oldest found a spare tractor tire at grandpa's in OR and grandpa said we could have it so had to haul it home to WA. Hubby got some heavy duty rope and tied the thing up in a tree. My 3 kiddos just love the thing and are on it constantly.

I wish we could have afforded a better swing for Grace. She loves it and plays on it daily but it's really a piece of junk. There is rust all over it, the bottom ladder step broke off and all the foot pedals for the two seater are broken off. I hate to throw it out but it is an eyesore. If we get the tire swing up before we get rid of it maybe she won't mind so much.

We also have one of those plastic outdoor playhouses I bought for Samantha when she was 2. It has really lasted and we've gotten way more out of it than what we spent on it. We have to get rid of it though. The girls are not allowed in it anymore. Wasps keep building nests under the sink and table area and Grace got stung twice. No more.

See, that's why we bought a more expensive set. We paid on it over time, and the thinking was it would last awhile. We duke it out with spider webs, paper wasps, and the like. There are absolutely no kids around here Jeannes' age, and I wanted something that would keep her interest. This summer I was hoping to add a tire swing or climbing wall to her set, or maybe one of those ball swings.

Sorry there are no kids in the area because I bet they'd all love to come and play on your set!!

I think a tire swing and climbing wall would be awesome! Can my girls come and play too??

I'm thinking we may hang a tire swing from our backyard tree - maybe even two - one for each kid. Samantha doesn't really play on the swingset but I bet she would on the tire. We also want to put a couple on our property so the kids have something to do when we are out there.

There are some really great swingsets out there, but the price tag always makes me run. Fast. LOL. Dh and ds have been working all day on building a slide, then we're planning to add on to it a little bit at a time. It's not the prettiest thing, but it's sturdy and serves the purpose, so it's what we'll have for awhile. As long as he has fun...

I would LOVE to buy one of those expensive wooden sets. We have a metal one that my mother in law bought for my son when he was almost 2. We have had it for around 9 years now!! It has definatly held up but I think next year we will be getting a new one. My 3 year old daughter and niece play on it all the time. It's starting to show some signs of age now. I told my hubby we were going to wait until they go on clearance and then we'll get another metal one.

Those swingset places let you pay over time, y'all. We didn't go in and pay out the total all at once. We wouldn't have one if that had been the case. The payments weren't so bad, either, if I remember correctly.

I H-A-T-E payments! I'm waiting to see what is going to happen with my car right now, because I really don't want to have to take on the payments. So no way for a swingset! At least the park is only a 10 minute drive!
