So….we enrolled with our local diploma program. I'm frustrated with them. Already. I was frustrated before I enrolled, but I did it anyway thinking I had to have a diploma for my children. I chose this one because it was local and would have a local graduation, etc.

I've been doing some investigating over the PA diploma programs that offer diplomas. They all vary a slight bit with requirements.

I found out last weekend that even though the diploma is recognized, it is no more "accredited" than a parent derived diploma. That infuriates me!!! In fact, only of them, the parent is the main signature. All of them lead you to believe that their diplomas carry weight….they don't.

So, I ask you…why bother? Should I bother? Should I manage my own transcript and make my own diploma and save myself the frustration and further hoops of a diploma program?

    Would LOVE opinions!

I wouldn't bother! We gave Rachael one that we signed, and no one questioned it. They're just out for money.

My only concerns is that will a mom-issued diploma be sufficient should she decide to homeschool in our state. You have to provide proof (well, technically a signed affidavit saying it exists is supposed to be enough).

I have to discuss this all with my husband. There are transcript sites out there. Thinking maybe I'd subscribe to one of them - a lifetime membership is cheaper than belonging to the program anyway. LOL :) and I can use it with all three of my kids, making it cost something like $10/kid!

    Anyway…thanks Jackie. :)

Who knows what the laws will be by the time she will be homeschooling? If she finds that she needs it to homeschool her own, she could just go get a GED. Or she could go to a community college and get an AA degree now and nobody can dispute that diploma.
