Just watched it. Definitely come off with the negative slant.

I know! If you didn't know anything about Unschooling you would think that it was terrible and these people are lazy, terrible parents!!

I have a lot of unschooling in me...but there *are* parents out there who equate unschooling with what my DH & I would consider "unparenting." But you know, what works in our family may not in others...

I don't really expect a fair hearing from the media on something as non-mainstream as unschooling. It is labeled as "radical" unschooling, but in their conversation, they make it sound like ALL unschoolers would look like this.

What exactly do you mean by
    ?

I'm a little puzzled by that. Seems to me those parents held quite fast to their beliefs and articulated them well. I didn't feel that their ideals were wrecked so much as attacked.

The original story made unschooling sound horriable. I'm glad they brought the parents back in and allowed them to explain more clearly how unschooling works for their family.

after watching the second video, I could almost swear there were two different families being shown. makes me see just how effective the media is in influencing peoples opinions. scary how much power they have, isn't it?

1st--Definitely a negative slant on it, though they should've used a few families and examples. They barely mentioned what the series on Disc Channel was going to be called--the one that follows an unschooling family,

2nd--Yeah, I do think the reaction of that first clip really was highly effective on how the family came back a 2nd time...hmm, I think the family was more conserved and trying to portray a certain image the 2nd time they appeared...

Also, there are people who have that same philosophy (child led parenting bit) that send their kids to PS, so I'm not sure why they were like: Ugh! Oh my god You let your kids do whatever they WANT???
