Hi so I know when we put our heads together we have some fab ideas so....can you help me to round off our beginning of the year homeschool party. We will be having it at a local park with lots of room to run and a playground. So my idea for theme was Not back to school treasure quest with a game of capture the flag. The winning team would win special ribbons and the second place team would get some too. And then we would hand out 'treasure' from the treasure chest (my old steamer trunk) I was thinking of including a bible as the main treasure but wasn't sure what else to add? Some people in our group are opposed to candy due to health issues etc.. any thoughts?
I think cool erasers, pencil toppers, note pads......... check out www.orientaltrading.com why not have a few cool things for the parents too....... awards, stickers, Jumba juice gift card or starbucks ($5)..... you know things mommy and daddy's like..... you could do a raffle. You could call around and see if any kinds of local stores will donate stuff or gift cards (free adverdtizing for them!!) let them know that they should support your homeschool group because word of mouth is very powerful!
oh and don't forget to scour the dollar stores ....... they have good school supply stuff, also the $1 spot at Target!
your prizes could be won with tickets. Give 2 tickets to the winners, one to the non winners. Have other games....... guess the number of pencils in the pencil pouch, how many pink pearl erasers in a yard? and other brain puzzles. Maybe you could let families set up thier own "carnival" like booths and pass out prizes.......... what ever they want to be in charge of ...... then have a little parade, smallest to biggest and just do a little march so that everyone can see how everyones grown over the summer.
