How do you grade your 9th - 12th grader on PE? Vicki isn't doing any kind of sports or karate. We are walking, swimming, Zumba, and Wii Sports. If I can come with other things we will do them also. I don't know exactly how to grade this. I do plan to put 1/2 credit of Health with this also. Thanks, I do appreciate any tips.

In high school our PE grades were based on participation. A for effort type thing. Personally, if my high school child was exercising regularly I'd count it as an A for the physical part. (though in high school our PE credit and health credit were taken in separate years)

Why bother worrying about a grade for PE? My take on that is as long as my kids were not couch potatoes I gave them an "A" for PE. Here is what we did in 9th & 10th grade.
Health & Physical Fitness (1 credit)
    • Healthful nutrition and diet
    • Preventing tobacco use
    • Preventing drug and alcohol abuse
    • Preventing injuries
    • Preventing HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections
    • Preventing pregnancy
    • Wall climbing, bike riding & swimming
    • Frisbee, basketball, baseball, softball, bowling, golf & volleyball
    • Walking, jogging & running

This is exactly, word for word, my thoughts and experience.

I gave an A for running, casual one on one basketball, gardening, swimming -- all of these things were done on a regular basis, though.

We just did PE as a pass/fail on sd's quarterly reports and transcripts. In the ps they do tests and other such things in the PE classes that we did not do. I do not personally like giving an A for effort, I would rather just say pass/fail and leave it at that.

I haven't thought about all that. She is going to a nutrition class because of weight. Her medicines make her gain weight. I'm going to count that also.

Thank you Ladies, I truly appreciate all the advice.
