I can't believe it, they're already seedlings! This is some of the stuff we're growing this year. I'd love to get good enough at it to make a sustainable garden smack dab in the middle of suburbia! I've noticed more and more of my neighbors are gardening now.
Congratz, it's looking good If you grow too much of something you could swap surplus for someone elses surplus
My seedlings took off with a bang this year. Usually they take a few weeks to sprout but this year they were already peeking through the soil after a few days.
Cool pictures! My husband and I are making containers to begin a garden this weekend. I'm so excited!!! We saw an article on container gardening and he's making me some crates and putting landacaping material in them. I'm going to paint them. Orchard Supply has plants 25% off this weekend. Yay!
Love your pictures. We are planting beans tomorrow. Radishes are already being pulled and we need to plant some more. Lettuce is up, onions are looking great, carrots are doing great, potatoes are coming along nicely, I can't seem to think right now what else is in the ground already. Oh my rhubarb is growing great this year and we added 320 strawberry plants. I love to watch everything growing. Freddy is getting honey bees next Saturday and he is super excited to get those set up. He says it will really help the garden and the fruit trees.
We never put anything in until May. We just had a couple nights of below freezing temps her in IL. We always have frost the first week or so of May, too. After dealing with a scramble to cover everything in a huge garden, I think I'll stick to my grampa's advice!
I would love to have some honey bees but it is restricted to certain areas. Plus there is a lot of red tape to go through in our area. Thankfully there are a few farms in the area so we have plenty of bees. However, I would love the honey! The bees do wonders for fruit trees. Early in the season, our trees are covered in bees.
We raised honey bees when I was a kid. Never a summer went by without stepping on one....or five! I can laugh now.
A friend raises bees, and wanted to put one in our yard. If I had a large yard, I'd be OK, but it isn't. Maybe after the kids are gone, and I can actually have a yard again, lol!
Awesome pics! I am SO slow with a spring garden this year since I had a wedding to help with. But since I am in Louisiana I can have something planted almost year around, so I just put melon seeds in the ground a couple of days ago. I LOVE your mint pic. Mint is a beautiful plant. Do you mulch? I have to since I have an abundance of clay soil.
Would LOVE to have a garden but with the drought and water shortages here it just doesn't make sense.. hopefully next year..
