It is a nearby city, Nappanee Indiana. The town is wonderful and only has 6500 people. Alot of Amish but alot of English (non-amish) too. They were devestated thurs when an almost F4 tornado hit. It destroyed 250 homes and alot of businesses. Our church has cancelled services tomorrow and everyone is going over to help clean up. PTL noone was killed. In a town north of us in Michigan a 14 mo baby was thrown 40 ft in his crib from a tornado. The neighbor finally found him trapped under some debree (sp?) with an electrical cord around his neck. PTL he only had a few scratches. Can you imagine being hit with 165mph winds in the middle of the night pitch black and laying there knowing you could not get to your kids?? How awful! These people have lost alot of memories but thank God they have their lives. If you want to see more you can view at www.wndu.com Please pray for this community! We were at home and they kept saying the tornado was headed for us and probably right above us. It was windy but it didnt touch down and we only briefly lost power. We kept our kids up and downstairs with us though till midnight. Then it seemed to calm down so I went upstairs but had my babies in bed with me. Dh slept on the couch in from of the TV:lol:
I saw this on the news and the man who found the baby said it had about 1000 pounds of stuff piled on top of the over turned crib. What a miracle. I will continue to pray for all who were involved and just want to add how wonderful that you are all helping these people. One lady on the news said any little thing they find is precious to them. I am glad your family was not harmed. Beth
I heard about the baby, too. Sounds like a major miracle to have found it alive at all, let alone unhurt!
How sad! I'm glad you guys are able to help, wish I could be there and help too! I will be praying for all the people that this affected!
Oh how sad, but thankful that no one was killed. God was protecting that little guy. Praying for all the people involved.
Wow.. I am just reading this now! The community is in my prayers! I hope they are finding some peace now!
I went to college in Goshen, Indiana, for a trimester and one summer school session. We went picking blueberries near Nappanee. You're right. The area is filled with wonderful people, and I've been praying for them. Thank you for starting this thread.
