He goes in the hospital in 20 minutes for a double bypass surgery.

I've heard over and over that this is routine and it will be fine. Doesn't help my heart. My Daddy's going in to have surgery.

Please pray that all goes well and that he recovers quickly.

    THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks everyone. Surgery went very well and he's in recovery. My mom recommends I don't visit because of how he looks. She says the doctors say that is very normal, but after losing my bio mom in a car accident and seeing her all hooked up to things, she thinks the sight will shake me up. Maybe. I wanna go see my Daddy. he's not ready for visitors yet, though, she said, either. So….I wait.

    Anyway, thanks for praying!!!!

A lot of people have fears about seeing their family "hooked up". For me, a lot of those fears were lessened by learning exactly what each wire, tube and device did...and understanding how they were helping my parent feel better.

Kinda freaks you out, but try to replace them in your mind with more comforting items that you can identify with. IV's replace fluid....so try to see them as a nurse sitting there with a big bowl of chicken soup. Respirators/oxygen tubes help you breath...so try to think of them as a nice sunshiney window open with a fresh breeze (and miraculously no allergens!). Try an think of pneumatic pads under the patient as a couple of massage therapists hanging around to give his legs a rub down and keep him from getting sore in bed:) All the monitors and stuff....are information that keeps your dad safe...try to think of them as a big blanket wrapped around him. If you get in the right mind set...and see them as what they are....items that are providing a lot of help and comforts and security....you'll feel less freaked out by them. Having an ill loved one is always a frightening thing...it's so hard to face even the idea of losing them. Sometimes fear of the unknown is worse than facing what you're afraid of head on. Your imagination can often make things far scarier than they really are:) Your description of events sound very positive. I think you'd feel better if you went to see him...even if you could only sneak in for just a second to kiss him and tell him you love him.
