I told ya'll back sometime ago about the problem I was having in the church with the pastor. Well with a lot of prayer and thought I went back. Nothing has or was ever said about what happened. Then last Sunday the pastor call my hubby into his office and told him that he felt that my hubby wasn't called to be a deacon in the church any longer. We still don't know the reason why. When my hubby asked him, he just said that it would be best for the church. And that we needed to go before the church, and tell the others what happened back in November between him and myself. My hubby said no, and that it was over. He also wanted to know, why are you bringing it back up again? He said that the deacons thought it needed to be settled before the church. My hubby told him NO, as far as we were concern it should be dropped and let go. But he told him that they just couldn't let it go. Because this pastor loves to stir up things, he is always in the middle of something. :(
So as last Sunday we no longer have a church home. We are also trying to sell our home so we can get out of this community. I ask that ya'll be in prayer as we go through this trying time in our lives. This has put a sour tast in our mouth about church. :(

Don't the other deacons have to be present when one of them is discharged?
Doesn't a pastor work FOR the church, and in that sense has to answer to the deacons and church as a whole?
It wouldn't be a surprise to hear there's something going on with this wacko pastor.
There should have been a meeting called before your husband was let go as deacon.

Becky, this pastor thinks he is the whole church. If they are not careful the church will be worpshiping him instead of God. I know that is not a very nice thing to say, but whatever he wants he gets, no matter if it is right or not. He can do no wrong in their eyes, anyone who thinks differently well they are just about shunned from the church, not by everyone but by enough that you feel that you are not welcomed :x . This church mind you is only about 50 to 75 members so it don't take many to do some damage. So to answer your question no he didn't have to have all of the deacon's approval but out of 5 he had 2 plus himself and that was enough for him. The 5 is counting my hubby. I don't know how the other two feel about it, but they will go along with it just to stay in good with the others and the pastor. :x
PLEASE PRAY THAT WE CAN SELL OUR HOME, AND FIND A NEW ONE WHERE THE LORD WILL HAVE US. THANKS :D

    sorry

I don't remember any of this but I am sorry and I do hope you sell your home. It is a shame to move over such silly stuff but community can really effect your home life. It can make you very upset. It may be for the best to start out new somewhere. Praying.

Been there, Vicky. I think I posted about my small church not letting me teach anymore either. It was a new pastor who "kicked me out". We ended up moving out of the community, too, but for more than just the church reason. Actually, it was the church thing that got us uncomfortable enough to actually start to consider a move that God had been planning for us for a long time. Sometimes the very things that throw us for a loop end up being the biggest blessings! Just imagine what He has in store for you!!!! We are lovinng life again!

This is really too bad, Vicky. But try not to let it get you down too far. Ask God what you can learn from this, and try to move on. I know it's easy for me to say, but I've been through situations like that. Every now and then, though I've forgiven, it comes back and irks me! But I have learned from those terribly unfair situations, and have been able to move on. Remember that HEVEN is our REAL home, we're just passing through this earth area on our way, so look forward to spending time with God! :D

We're praying for you and this whole situation!

Thank you all very much :D . We were to have someone to come see the house this morning but they have yet to show up. I even cancelled school so I could show the house and the kids would be able to help watch their two little ones. Oh well. Maybe they will show up this afternoon. We really don't want to move we live in the country and are on family property that has been in my hubbys family for over 100 years. It saddens us deeply, but we can look at it in two ways maybe its not in the Lords plan for us to move just go to a different church futher away,or maybe he is trying to prepare us for something and wants to see how we react to this situation. I don't know. Your paryers and encourging words mean a lot to me. Again Thank you all. :D

    Praying here, Vicki.
Is there a good church within driving distance of your home?
    Blessings,

Not one that we could go to without someone asking why are we there. We are still looking and praying. Its all in the Lords hands anyway and he already knows the outcome. The people did show up 5 hours later than they said they would. Haven't heard back from them. Guess we will have to do what doesn't come easy waiting.
Thanks again for all the paryers and encourging words. They mean a lot. :)

Vicky, let them ask! All you have to say is something like, "We felt God was calling us out of there....." That's all the explaination you'd need to give. Of course, you wouldn't want to go into detail, because it would come across as bad-mouthing. It would be true, but very vague at the same time.

I can only respond briefly...I just had my MIL just walked in. Vicky, you won't believe this, but that is exactly what happened to us, too! We lived on a small acreage that has been a part of my family farm for a century. It was difficult at first, but there is such blessing on the other side of obedience!!!!
