Well... We're currently in Southern California, but we've been looking for work for my dh in Indiana for almost a year now. My whole family is there, neither of us have family here.

So we've been looking, praying, waiting... dh just got a call last Thursday from a potential employer in Indianapolis!! The employer is looking to fill the position within 2 weeks. DH told them it couldn't happen. He called to tell me this, and I yelled, "CALL THEM BACK CALL THEM BACK!!!!" hehe

I called a friend of mine in Indy to see if dh could stay with them long enough for the rest of us to get out there and they said of course. :) So dh called back to plead to be considered as a candidate for the position. He had to leave a voicemail. They were closed on Friday and today, so I'm hoping and praying once again... that they'll call him back tomorrow and schedule an interview.

If he gets this job, we'll be moving across the country all within 2 weeks!! Holy canolies, that's a lot of junk to do in a super short amount of time.

Prayer and cheers, please :) I'll keep you updated!

Sending lots of good wishes your way. It can be done. LOTS of work, but you can do it. We did a cross country move (FL to CA) in about 2 1/2 weeks - with a 2yo & a 2mo. Now, my DH was home full time and that made a big difference in the packing. But it can be done - especially if you have the option of him going out ahead of the rest of you.

Me, I'd start gleaning massively now. Interestingly, about 15 months ago we thought we found the perfect opportunity to move. Turned out it wasn't that, but it lit a fire under us, and when the perfect one did come up a few months later, the whole transition was way more "seamless" than one would expect because we didn't have to get ready - we were ready.

FlyLady.com has a GREAT printable planner and tips, etc. for a seemless move. Read it. Learn it. Love it. But do it now! Like Eye said, that way you'll be ready, at a moment's notice, when the time comes.

And I'll be praying that the Lord's will be done in regard to this job.

That reminds me - our best tip (don't know if FlyLady recommends this, but it's UNBELIEVABLY helpful). Get a pack of index cards. As you pack a box, write on the card what's in the box. Then write a number on the outside of the box - on at least four sides. It is so great to think, I need flatware...look on a card, and it's in box 72, just find box 72. No rummaging through all the kitchen boxes. The numbers on each side mean no lost boxes that are actually there with the number facing the wall. Last time, we tried to use different colored cards for each room. That only works until you start combining things from different rooms in the same boxes (near the end).

Thank you so much for the good wishes and the tips! I'm on pins and needles today. No word yet.

GREAT tip about the index cards :)

And I love flylady, but I had forgotten that she had a moving plan. I'll definitely check her out!!

I would call back again and say you know its a holiday week end but you want to recheck to see if you all got the message I left on your voicemail and go from there.

    Good luck

dh said if he hasn't heard by mid-day here (it's 10:30 right now), he'll call again. I'm so excited at the possibilities, but trying to be calm. deep breaths, deep breaths. What will be will be. God is in control.
