Who can imagine jumping for joy over snow (of all things)! We are being belted with a snow storm that started last night and isn't expected to let up until tomorrow. By the time all is said and done we'll probably have three feet of snow (or more) but that's ok - lots of slidig, snow angels, etc. Praise the Lord for all the snow (keep it coming) Brenda
My only regret is that it's not suppose to hit us heavy until Saturday. That means streets will be clear enough NOT to call school on Monday, which means my DH won't have a snow day. I'd love for him to have a snow day and join us! I've considered calling a whole bunch of HS'ing friends, declare it a Home School Snow Day and see how many I can get to meet us at the sledding hill! The more, the merrier, you know?
We were sledding today we only have 2 inch at best. I was having a blast until............ I hit the fence and flipped the sled. hahahahahahaha nothing broken PTL. But a good lesson learned.
Well, I did it!!! We went to a wedding tonight. The groom is the oldest of six homeschooled boys, ranging in age from 21-5. So there wer many homeschoolers at the wedding. I mentioned it to one or two, and we are now set up with time and place for our Official Homeschool Snow Day on Monday!!! YEAH!!!! And one mom said that anyone who wanted could come to her place afterwards for cocoa! So I'm excited about it. Oh, and it was a lovely wedding! VERY different, but lovely! They had a couple that had been close to the bride and groom give them words of wisdom. Ladies, I've been married for 13 years, and when that woman talked, I felt she was talking right to ME, rather than to Christine!!! I told her that later, and that her words were for every married woman there!
Yo, Brenda! You keep that snow up there, girlfriend! I just know if we get a big one my first husband will call me from Florida and say 'Cold enough for ya up there? It's 80 degrees down here!' Twerp. Sometimes he'll call my sister the same day, and he'll razz her, too. He lives near some football stadium down there, and he'll tell her he's looking at this stadium, wiping off the sweat while he's talking to her. Luckily, he lives too far inland to be affected by the storms that go through there.
Y'all can keep all that nasty snow up their. I much rather have the 70's-80's that we are getting right now. The kids are in shorts and running around outside. Nothing but sun 8) here. My ds wishes it would snow he has only seen it one time. Have fun and don't freeze. God Bless!!
I'm glad to have it! We had four families show up today for our Snow Day. It was in the mid-twenties, the kids were well bundled up, and they had a blast!!! The hill was a first for most of the kids (all?). I may have been the only one that had been on it before, and that was as a kid! Bigger and steeper than most of our kids were use to, but they sure did adjust quickly, and loved every minute of it! We were out there for about an hour, and came home to hot chocolate. Those of you living down near Florida just don't know what you're missing!!! I love living somewhere where there are four very distinct seasons!
I don't mind some snow now and then, but not gobs that lasts forever! That's pretty much what we get here too--now and then not too much---usually. We've had a few big blasts that stopped our little world, since we don't really know how to handle it! But mostly we get anywhere from 2-12 inches and it aint bad. This last snow we had 2 1/2 weeks ago was about 5 inches, and half our neighborhood showed up on the culdesac behind us. It's got a long hill---perfect for sledding! It was so much fun! People brought out coffee and snacks for the kids and everyone shared the sleds---what a great, unplanned community event! That's when I like snow, when you can get together with others and laugh and have a wonderful time without all the hassle of planning a big event! And seeing the kids so happy and giggly and having such a grand time----priceless!!!
Hmmmmm, they didn't bring the coffee for the kids, though I made it sound like it. It was for the adults! The kids had enough energy!!!
This is bringing back memories....when I was a kid, all of my dad's family had woodstoves for heat. In the winter we would all pile into trucks with our sleds and hit the slopes as the dads gathered up the firewood. We'd have hot chocolate (always the homemade kind!). Wow. That is an experience my kids will never have.....the dependence on wood heat OR the firewood ventures.
