Since I had the rest of the hysterectomy performed last week so quick, I did not have a chance to research what happens afterward. I just thought you get on hormones and get on with your life, but My mother's best friend just lost both of her breast from cancer in the last month (they didn't tell me until I brought up taking the gel and going to start on the pills in a couple of weeks~ didn't want to burden me further). She blames it on the hormone therapy. I do not know what to do. Please pray for guidance for me. My body is healing very slowly this time and I have had a lot more pain and swelling. God has been very present and is getting me through all of this along with my friends here. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Love ya'll, Melanie
Melanie, I will continue to pray for you and your family. Take time to heal and get your strength back and then talk to your doctor before you decide what to do. Beth
How wonderful it is that you know and can give glory to God for walking you through this. I am praying for your healing as well as wisdom. This must a difficult dicision. My dear friend had a hysterectomy. She developed breast cancer and attributed it to the hormones. She had the cancer removed and stopped taking hormons. The doctors insisted she take them but she refused. It took a bit for her body to adjust but she has been doing wonderful for over 10 years now without the hormones.
Melanie, my mom had a hysterectomy way back in the early 80's, maybe even late 70's. She took hormone replacement until just a few years ago. Her gyn took her off of it due to the risks that came out back then. The only problem she has is hot flashes. She rarely has her heat on, and when she does, it is only to keep her parakeet warm. She thinks her problem might even be thyroid, not the lack of hormone replacements. Her doctor needs to get her thyroid tested. Please try to not worry. I know, though, that every new issue creates a new worry!I hope you can relax and just see how things go.
Melanie - my prayers are with you. I know how hard that recovery is. Make sure that you take it easy and don't over do it. I had mine a year ago and it isn't any easy recovery. I will pray for the right decision for you.
