I haven't been here very much due to traveling, sorry. We had a different summer, with dh out west taking a linguistics course, and the kids and I in PA.

Because of certain situations this summer, we have to re-teach our values and standards to our kids, mostly the older one! He has been a real challenge lately. He will be 16 in November. This was our first day of school, and I'm ready to ship him off to the local Christian school! His attitude is not good at all. I'm feeling so frustrated!

Something I decided to do this year for Bible is to study character qualities. This week is diligence, next week is obedience, and after that....we'll see what is next. Hopefully this will help!

Just wanted to give this quick update and prayer request. Please pray for our school year and esp for me and my ds!

    Thanks!

    Karen,

WELCOME BACK!!! When you are frustrated or anything, please come here, we will pray for you and support you however we can!

I have a 16yo and a 13yo (and a 10yo), so I know where you're coming from! I think it's a great idea to study character traits! I hope that helps! Are you having them keep a notebook with the traits you study and something about them? That way when they exhibit the opposite of what they should, you can tell them to go look at those traits again and see how it might be handled better!

We'll keep you in our prayers!

    Welcome back!

I have an 8 year old who thinks he is going on 20.. there are days I honestly want to send him to a boarding school..just so I don't kill him! We are just getting into character qualities, and I am hoping with all hope that it helps. With each one we are adding a home rule that we all will have to follow.. we will have to take it one step at a time, but I think it will help!

Elijah turns 13 in Feb. and I understand completely. I thought I was the only one going through this. Sometimes he can be as sweet as can be,other times he is awful.

Thanks Deena. That is a great idea. We just started today, so I was thinking that I would have them write the memory verse on an index card, and the action points on the other. They will keep the index cards in a folder, so hopefully they won't get lost!
