I wanted to stop in a post on this topic. Almost 11 years ago I had a tubal ligation done (I deeply regret this decision) because I was in a VERY abusive marriage and thought there was no way out of it. I since have been remarried for 3 years and so want to have a child with my husband. I have been doing some research on tubal reversals and found that it costs nearly 5,000 to have it done and then there is only about a 60% of it working.

Since then....I have been praying to the Lord to just allow me this one miracle. I know it will only happen if it is in His will. My heart aches so much for someone I have never met. How can that be? Well...I am never late on my periods and low and behold I am over a week late. I know the chances are slim to none that I am pregnant but the statistics show that there is like a 40% failure rate on tubals that have been done over 10 years ago.

So my plea to all of my online homeschool moms is to please pray for us...don't pray for me to be pregnant, pray for God's will to be done. I can accept that. Our anniversary is Tuesday. If I haven't started by then I am going to do a test.

Thanks in advance for your prayers.

    Jeannie

I am praying! What a great anniversary present that would be for you and dh.

My dh had a vasectomy during my pregnancy with our 4th. We also regret our decision and looked into reversal. It is quite expensive. I know your prayers! I often pray that if it is His will, He will overlook our human selfishness and give us another blessing.

Hope things come out the way you want.

My friend in Maine was in a simular situation, she was so fortunate that there was some kind of study being done with invetro fertilization and she is now pregnant with twins!

    Good luck to you.

I once had a lady tell me she got pregnant 3 years after having her tubes tied. I will keep you in my prayers.

When you decide to take a pregnancy test, check the "dollar store". I was surprised to find out several years ago that our Dollar Tree even sold them. I have used them numerous times and they've always been right--whether positive or negative. The cashier claims they've only heard good feedback. Sure beats paying for those pricey home tests!

Your post touched me very deeply. You sound sooo much like me. I was in a very bad marriage that finally ended in divorce. God sent a wonderful man into my life. Right after we were married I wanted a baby more then anything with my husband. He had a vasectomy years before we met. I saved a dollar here and a dollar there and after 3 yrs of marriage I had only saved $1000. In the fall of 2003 my Dh got hurt playing a basketball game and needed hernia surgery. During the consult for this operation the doctor said something that made me ask if a vasectomy reversal were possible during the hernia repair. That doctor said yes IF I could find a urologist to work side by side with him my insurance would cover OR costs!! The noraml fee for reversal is $5000 to $6000. I called several urologist and their fees were still more then I had saved. My last phone call was to a local office. This doctors fee was $2000 but only required half that and payment could be made on the other half. Is that a God thing or what???? He required exactly what I had saved!! We were given a 70% chance of having a child. His surgery was in May of 2004. I found out I was pregnant in Dec. 2004 and in Aug. 2005 we had a beautiful little girl named Avarie. When Avarie was 9 months old we got pregnant again the first try. Sadly I lost that precious baby at 9 wks. One month later we got pregnant again the first try and in Feb. 2007 I gave birth to a sweet, little boy.
I know the desire of wanting a child so badly. I will pray for you and please keep us updated.

I will pray that you get your miracle baby. I know of a lady who got pregnant after a tubal also.

I am happy to hear the tip on dollar store pregnancy tests.

Frankly, all the pregnancies after tubals and vasectomies scares me. My dh and I are considering him getting a vasectomy. It is a harder decision than I had anticipated. After reading some of these posts...I am not sure anymore. I am sure I don't want a child NOW. I guess this is where faith comes in right?

I will pray for you also. I too know the longing of having more children. We were childhood sweethearts, got married young and had children young. I had my second child when I was 25 and thought that I was done so dh had a vasectomy. Well at 30 we both had a longing for more children and we both prayed alot. I turned 33 last summer and in the fall I needed a hysterectomy. I feel that was my answer to prayer. Even though I can't have more I am very thankful for the two I have. The best advice I can give anyone is be sure before committing to any life changing decision.

I will say a prayer for you and yours.

We've been trying to concieve for a year and a half now with no luck so I understand the ache you have. It's extremely hard for me when I hear or see someone else pregnant. Especially when they are friends getting pregnant who don't want to be. Makes me think it's not in God's plan.

Pray on it, my best friend told me if it's meant to be, God will bless you, and if it's not, he's already blessed you with one and that is more than many are blessed with. I think of that every month when my period shows up lol.

I will Say a prayer for you and your family also.

DH and I have the boys and since they are so close together (1 year 1 day), we had a tubal done after the youngest was born. I completely regret the decision now (7 years later), and we have contemplated Tubal reversal for awhile. I just came to a decision within the past week or so that I will not do a reversal. The places I was looking at, reversals started at $6900 (plus I would have to travel so add an additional up to $500 for travel) making it just under $7500 for a reversal.

I have been a gestational carrier for 2 other families. I love being pregnant - These pregnancies were achieved via IVF consisting of the couple's embryos. I have carried 2 times and all and all have had 4 very healthy and easy pregnancies and given birth to 4 healthy children naturally.

I don't want to chance spending upwards of $7500 for a 60% success rate. I turn 34 today and by time I have the reversal and getting pregnant on the first attempt I will be 35.

I will have all the normal fears of it not working or having an unhealthy baby or a terrible pregnancy course, but the idea that hit me most was justifying paying that much on a hope and a prayer when I have 2 wonderful and healthy boys that I have been blessed with.

Has anyone considered adoption? Maybe the ache for a child and the inability to concieve is God putting you in the place to adopt a child????

Please no one be offended. I will not pretend to know what your struggle is like. If that is a stupid question or hurtful in anyway, I am VERY sorry. It is asked out of complete ignorance or understanding of your trial.

If we could afford to adopt we would.

    Can't afford it.

We can't even afford to buy our own house so I'm pretty sure adoption is out of the question.

We have friends at dh's work that are adopting a baby girl. So far they've spent over 9,000 dollars. We don't even have a 1,000 lol.

Why they make it so expensive is beyond me. Really irritates me too. Where does that money go?

I had typed this long story about foster care adoption but it didn't go through. I won't type it all again but I do want to tell you one thing. If you adopt through foster care like we did ( 4 times) it doesn't cost much or anything. We paid the clerk of court $36 each time to file our petition to adopt and Social Services paid that back to us because we were adopting from foster care. We adopted a 3, 7, 2, and 15 year old in that order. In the same order we got them at the ages of 2, 3,
3 weeks, and 15. They are now 17, 14, 8 and 17 and we adore them all. We have 3 birth kids too who are grown. They all totally feel like siblings. I don't want to offend anyone by any means but did want to let you know about foster to adopt options. Beth

I have known those to adopt outside of this country and through the foster care system. Adopting outside the country is very expensive. It cost $10,000-$20,000 for each of the couples I know. However, going through the foster care system as Beth said...it great! In fact, the state will pay for child care and health care for the child even after adoption...at least that is what a friend of mine said. I may not be right about that...maybe that was until adoption??? That does make sense. Anyway...it is just a thought.

Like I said, I won't pretend to understand the struggle of not being able to concieve. My mom took 7 years to have a baby and she said she would cry everytime she saw a pregnant woman. One of my best friends tried for years to have a baby and one of the hardest things I ever had to do was tell her I was pregnant for the 2nd time. She had to leave my house. I wasn't even trying to get pregnant and she was trying every hard. Then to tell my other friend that I was pregnant with my third who was also having trouble...well that ended happily. She told me she was pregnant also! Woohoo! In fact, the first friend I mentioned now has two kids. One is 10 and the other 9 months. lol. I will pray for the same victory in all of your lives.

In our county if you adopt a special needs child you get assistance for them. If you adopt a baby straight from the hospital, which is rare, you do have to pay some lawyer fees and you don't get medicaid or assistance. I think that is still true and it probably is different in other areas. We got medicaid for our adopted children because two of them were considered older, one was mentally handicapped and one has a birth defect that required several surgeries. Some places help out if you adopt a sibling group. We adopted Crystal when she was 7 but had already had her for 4 years. Then we adopted her brother when he was 15. She is 14 and he is 17 now. They are full biological siblings. He was being adopted somewhere else but it didn't work out so when we found out he was in a group home, we asked to have him come visit us for a weekend and the rest is history!
