This past Sunday, my boys were "in training" as Altar Boys. They worked with the other two boys. Both looked so adorable sitting up at the front in their cassocks. My boys did really well, although Peter was fidgety and very nervous. Any mistakes were overlooked by the congregation. The boys were very excited when mass ended as they were ready to get out of the spotlight. I received a lot of well wishes and compliments on their accomplishment. This Sunday, Christmas Eve, they will be the only two Altar Boys. There will be an adult up there to help them, however. Both boys are looking forward to serving at mass. My parents, neither of whom are Catholic, will be in attendance, just to see their grandsons. (They normally attend a local Baptist church.) They are growing so fast! I am proud of them, though. They are really growing in the right way. Benjamin, my 10 yo, didn't want to be an Altar Boy. When I told him that he and Peter would be the only two at mass who could do the job on Christmas Eve, he decided to help because he felt it was the right thing to do, to help for Father and for our congregation. Now, of course, he has discovered that he likes having a special "job" during mass. Just wanted to share. Maryelizabeth
I know you are so proud of your boys. I hope the Christmas Eve service goes off without a hitch. Beth
That's so neat! Glad it went well! I am sure they will do well on Christmas Eve also! I can imagine how proud you must be of them!
I also think that children that age get more out of services when they have a "reason" to be there. Congratulations to your boys!!! And to you, too, Mom!
Congrats to you and your little men!! What a wonderful blessing to have them as alter servers! Tell them they will be making little Baby Jesus smile as they serve Christmas Eve! Blessings~ Shawna
