I have been looking through my plans for this year and I don't have the Poetry for You and Me book. Has anyone used it? Do you think it's necessary or are fingerplays and nursery rhymes etc close enough? I have What Your Preschooler needs to know, I was planning on using that. Any suggestions?

My honest opinion is that K4 is unnecessary. I do think fingerplays, songs, and nursery rhymes, with a side order of Dr. Seuss, with maybe one or two "serious" poems here and there for garnish, will be quite adequate.

I am doing Abeka K4 with my daughter and I have not seen this book? I have the whole kit. I would think it was not necessary if it is not in the main kit.

It is definitely an optional book. Not a necessity, that is why I wondered if poems and fingerplays like those in What Your Preschooler Needs to Know would do just as well. Our four year old is the type that wants to do something all the time and variety is a must.
