I use Homeschool tracker basics, the free version. I want to save last years work on a cd and don't know how. Can anyone help?!?!?
I'm not sure if you can save it to a CD, but you can print out the reports. That's what I did. I print them out each year and put attendance in a notebook to keep--just in case.
I have the plus version. I know it gives instructions under the help section. Which reminds me I should have dh make a back up for me.
I have the PLUS version and have backed it up to our hard drive and to an external "flash" drive. I didn't use the Basic long enough to know how to do it but there are instructions available online and their customer service has been great for questions (I'm on their forums but I not a regular visitor there). You could send them an email or call them. They get back to people pretty quick. They also have forums you can ask on. Homeschool Tracker Forums
hey one of my lists says teacher Planner but I cant find it anywhere , its on the report list, but says I dont have it in use, where do I find it to put it in use?
Did you already look in 'tools', 'options'. I'll have to look at mine as I don't remember off hand where it's at.
If you click on the 'Teacher' Tab, you should have 5 Tabs underneath it. Goals, Journal, Lesson Plans, LP Schedules, Weekly Planner.

I found the teacher planner section , that was cool! now I could find where the lessons went and how to copy them to paper and everything! Thanks!
hey I am glad you asked yoru question cause it helped me figure out my own problems with it and am working on it now! I started up first week, printed it on accident LOL!
I would print out the assignment lists for the year. Lots of paper, but I don't know how to do the cd thing. This year I am copying the assignment list week by week. I then check off the assignments as we finish them and make any notes where they fit. I'm 3-hole punching them and putting them into a notebook for the year. When the kids are older I'll probably switch to the plus version, but for anyone who knows, what is the real difference between the two?
The plus has some added features. There are more report options, you can reuse and even share lesson plans, and it will create a high school transcript (which is what I really wanted). I did not work with the basic for long but I really like the plus. I finally seem to be getting the hang of it. There is a forum on their site that has lots of good info too.
You would do it pretty much the same way you'd save anything else to disc. All you need to do is find the database. It's in the HSTracker folder in your docs. Then you would just save the database to disc the same way you'd save any other files or folders.
If you select an assignment report for say a week it should let you view it. What does it look like when you do? Would it help if I scanned and posted a sample of mine so you can see what it's supposed to do?
I think they have a specific list of differences on the website but Plus (to me) is LOTS better....but of course, I didn't use Basic for very long. I decided if I was going to use Plus down the road, why procrastinate if I could swing it in the budget (since they have free updates for life). Either program takes a bit to figure it out (I'm still learning). I did opt to buy the printed instruction manual for plus (rather than the free PDF file). I like to have it in my lap when I need it. I haven't needed it a ton but I'm not trying to do anything "fancy" yet.
One thing I've not been able to figure out from the free version is how to order the assignment list. I ended up resorting to placing letters in front of the subject name to get the order I want, since the system places them alphabetically. Whatever I want first I place an A in front of and so on. Does the plus allow you to order them how you'd like?
